In 2 weeks, my husband's brothers and sisters and their families will be all together for a group photo. We've decided to come out to the Plainfield area to do this, but I really don't know of a good place that we can go to. We will have about 10 adults and 8 kids, and will need to go early in the morning. Does anyone know of a good place to go? If the weather is not good, anyone know of an indoor location either?

Also, as a side note, we need to get it developed the same day and possibly framed. Any suggestions on that either? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for all of the great location ideas!! Unfortunately, with the weather being as unpredictable as it is, we decided to just do it at my house in the living room, but then again at the last minute, we went to the front yard. It turned out to be a beautiful morning and the picture turned out great. Thank you all again for all of your suggestions!

Settlers Park in downtown Plainfield. My stepbrother and his wife went there after their wedding for photos (although it was in August) and the picturs were beautiful. It has lots of trees, a pond, and a bridge.

Here in Aurora there is a great zoo with an award winning sunken Garden...They should be planting flowers in the next few weeks. Everyone comes here to take wedding pictures, prom, Easter. You can call and see if you can find out when they are planting. There is a great visitor center if it rains it won't be the ideal background, but it will be dry and there is lots of chairs. Come by this week/weekend and visit the zoo with your kids. I could even meet you there if you would like(help snap the picture).( I live 3 min. down the road) If you have a frame ready you can take your camera to the Walgreens in Montgomery (5 min..easy to get to) and develop the film while your family visits the animals, or snacks/shops. I'd be happy to help if needed....Jenny M. ###-###-#### I will also include the link to the zoo. Best Wishes!

I just got married in May of last year in Plainfield. We took some outside pictures down Caton Farm Rd by the entrance to one of the subdivisions. This one had a waterfall, trees and a bench to sit on. It is past Drauden and before County Line Rd.

We also had Pilcher Park in Joliet set-up for pictures in case the weather was bad. They have a great indoor facility that resembles the outdoors.

If you are having a professional photographer do the pictures, you would need a letter from him to have them developed yourself. If that is the case, you could take them to Walmart and they could have them done in about 1 hour. After you decide on the one that you want the most, take it to Michael's. They can usually get things framed quickly.

If you are looking for a photographer that will let you keep the proofs, let me know. My father does that and is very reasonably priced.

Good luck with your pictures.

I know it's not Plainfield, but downtown Naperville along the Riverwalk has some beautiful spots to take family pictures. In fact, almost every time my family and I take walks there there's a group taking photots. Also, there's a Wolf Camera located in the downtown where you can get your pictures developed and buy a frame.

Good luck!

A friend of mine is a professional photographer and shoots ALL her outdoor pics at the Riverwalk in Naperville. There are some absolutely gorgeous places that will accomodate your large group size. Good luck.

I second the Sunken Garden at Phillips Park. It's beautiful once the flowers have bloomed.

one year on 4th of July we had a family reunion with 14 kids and about that many grown ups. To get a good group photo we all dressed in red, white and blue the we had the kids lined up on the climber, there were 5 on the slide, bigger kids holding babies and others sitting or standing on the nearest climber parts. It turned out really neat (it was a blue slide so that worked well).

You could do the same at any area playground.

Or by city hall there is a nice area that would look good in a picture.

Or you can go to Mather Woods off of Renwick (west of the River) and do some in the woods on a bridge, a fallen tree or just in front of trees. (there's a fallen tree that is HUGE on the path that goes to the East into the woods, before the first bridge)
