My son won't start Preschool until NEXT Fall, but I'm starting to look into preschools for him. I know some places require a year in advance registration so I'm hoping to get some reccomendations for good Preschools in the area. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thanks so much!

Hi Tracy,

I have a 5 year old boy that ‘graduated’ from Sunbeams & Rainbows in May. This was my first experience with pre-schools and I absolutely loved it! We met a lot of friends and still keep in contact throughout the summer. I plan on enrolling my 3 year old next fall when he turns 4. The program was perfect for my needs and my son still talks about how much he misses the teachers. If you want any additional information, such as the curriculum, feel free to email me.

Check out this website

It will give you a complete list of schools. Our 3 year-old son will be starting this fall at Sunbeams and Rainbows. We also considered Buttons and Bows but I wanted a morning class. There is Visitation or Immac. Conception for Catholic schools or Timothy Christian for Christian schools. I have heard good things about Tree Town but I personally thought it was a little too expensive. Elmhurst Academy is also supposed to be good. You have a lot of great choices. Just talk to some people and visit the schools. I am sure you wiil find one that is a good fit for you.

Hi Tracy:

I have friends who use Timothy Christian and love it. I believe that Elmhurst College also has a program. I don't know much about it, but they are having an open house on August 21 (9am-3pm) that I intend to go to.

Best of luck!!

My daughter goes to Buttons & Bows in Elmhurst. Last year was her first (and my first child at preschool) so I have nothing to compare it to, but I was always so impressed with the activities they did and crafts she brought home. Her teachers were the sweetest things (Mrs. McCann and Mrs. Corrigan)...so gentle and loving...expecially the first few days when she cried and did not want to go. Also, at the end of the year they make a photo album type thing for each child with pictures of different things they did throughout the year. It's so precious! My girlfriend who is a teacher was over yesterday and I showed it to her and she was so impressed, not only with the album but with all the things the did. I would highly recommend it! ###-###-####

Our son goes (as will daughter, eventually) to Montessori Children's Academy of Villa Park. It's actually on the Elmhurst/Villa Park boundary and is located in a quiet neighborhood approximately where the Prairie Path meets Rt. 83.

We've been very pleased for the past two years with the teachers as well as the administrators. They do a nice job of communicating with parents as well as focusing on the development of the child. There is a waiting list for all age levels.

Good luck in your search.

Check out the Elmhurst Park District. The Sunbeams and Rainbows program is very well respected. www.epd.org.
