Number two is due in two weeks, and I would like to get a new diaper bag for this one. We have two I use now - one is HUGE and the other is too small for a toddler and a a newborn. Does anyone have a diaper bag they love? Preferably one that is a backpack, so my hands are free to chase a toddler!

What can I do next?

Ok, we decided to get the Lands End bag after hearing about how long they last. It has been ordered and should be here by the weekend! YAY!

The one feature we would have changed is to have one-handed access to the main compartment. We bought a bag with a fold-over top that velcros to the other side. It is secure, but it takes two hands to open because of the velcro. Not easy when you're holding a new baby!

I have had the skip hop backpack for about a year and a half. I love it. I don't use it as much now that my daughter is 2 but my husband still uses it. I used it every day for about a year and then my husband has used it the last six months about 2 x per week and it is still in great shape. It has a ton of pockets and spots to store things. I have the lime green color. Probably woudn't have picked that color -- but recieved it as a gift and my husband liked the color so we didn't change it.

Before you leave the hospital, they always offer you a free diaper bag. Ask for Similac bag. It's a backpack. Light weight and you can put tons of stuffs in there. I have 3 kids (3.5, 2 & 3 months) so my diaper bag can be pretty full!!! The important thing is it's free. You don't have to worry about ruin it. Unless you are looking for an expensive bag. I spent so much money getting every expensive diaper bags... The one I am using daily and get the most out of it is the "free" one.

When our 2nd was born, our older one was just 2. I found that a large open top purse worked best for me as I had quick access & I shopped at Sam Moon so if a sippy cup leaked, it wasn't the end of hte world. My diaper bags were too much of a pain to get into if I was holding the baby or pushing a cart. I did keep diapers for each kid in ziplocks, along with a spare outfit in seperate bags - handy so that you have somewhere to put the dirty clothes or diapers. Another bag kept pacifiers & snacks. I do keep a bag in my trunk with clothes, diapers, wipes, medicine for emergencies (just don't forget to update it with diaper size/seasonal clothes) and that let me only carry what I needed. I've found that I use way less while I'm out than I ever thought I would. Hope that helps!
