Looking for a New Swing Set, Where Should I Buy It?

We're planning on getting a swing set with some bells and whistles for our kids. We have about $1000 to spend, if we need to. Should I get one from Toys R Us or go with a company that buids them for you. Moms, what have you done for your families and where did you purchase your swingset. We just want to get the most bang for our buck.

Thanks.

I agree - Costco! The set sold by Costco is made by one of the major manufacturers (last year it was Rainbow -- this year a different one). So you are getting the highest quality, but for a more reasonable price.

We got ours from Costco. Although, as a caveat, it comes completely disassembled and I swear the closest my husband and I ever came to divorce was when we tried to assemble it! (And he is a general contractor and I'm a construction manager, so we are handier than most!) But if you are good at deciphering instructions, then the one from Costco is sturdy and has a lot of bells and whistles. Ours has a fort, a little climbing wall, some monkey bars, and a slide.

We bought a set in 2000 for $2700+ by Woodlawn and it was top notch. They came out, leveled the area and installed.

We took great care of it and just this past Dec, we sold it for $400. The company that came to take it apart, move it, reassemble it said in all the years of their business, it wasa the best maintained and quality set they had seen.

They told the buyer that the beams in the ground would more than likely be rotted and need replaced. In the end, nothing needed replaced...ALL was in perfect shape.

Go for quality....You get what you pay for. We paid $2700+ and sold it 10 yrs later for $400 at a deal.

Woodlawn is the company we used, Try Craigslist, Ebay to get a GOOD QUALITY used set if you cannot afford to get a new one from the get go.

We also got ours from Sam's. The good thing was that the pieces are all marked. It still took may husband a little longer to build it than he thought. We had a friend buy a similar one from Lowes or Menards (don't remember which). The boards were not marked, he ended up hiring someone to help him.
