Looking for Backup OB/GYN for Homebirth

Can anyone recommend a back up OB/GYN for my February homebirth? My OB at Cedars refuses to act in that capacity, and before I start wrangling with my insurance company for an out of network referral, I'd like a few suggestions first. I have a couple from my midwife, but neither accepts Anthem Blue Cross. Thanks in advance for your help!

Try Dr. Wu in Glendale. He works with my midwife.

Dr. Paul Crane

Dr. Anthony Chin

Dr. Chin was my backup. Never needed him. It's one visit at PPO rate. Costs about $60. Your midwife has to have you go for the appointment for his/her insurance purposes. No way around it.

Your midwife should also have an OBGYN that he/she is used to working with.

Hi! Yay for homebirths! I had a successful homebirth in July and it was more amazing and beautiful than I could have imagined! Best to you! I'm also 37 and have Anthem Blue Cross. My husband and I had a phenomenal backup doctor in Dr. David Kline. He works closely with Sacred Entrance Midwifery (who we used) and he performed an external cephalic version on me and was incredible. I thought he was so great that I'm using him as my permanent OBGYN. However, he was out-of-network, so I pay for 30% of the service (typically). If you can afford it, he's totally worth it! I can give you some other names of referred OBGYNs from the midwifery but I'm not sure they take Blue Cross. Let me know if you'd like the names and numbers. Here is Dr. Kline's info. 10309 Santa Monica Blvd Rm 300

I went with Dr. Anthony Chin who backed up my home birth at Cedars. He takes blue cross. he is very mellow, and believes in homebirth. mine incidnetally did end up at cedars after a mid-labor transfer, and dr. chin's partner, Dr. Crane delivered, as Dr. Chin was already in a delivery at the time. He was great too, but does not take blue cross. Their offices are near Cedars.
