I am looking for a lightweight bagless vacuum that I can use on bare floors AND low pile carpet that picks up cherrios. I love my swiffer sweep and vac but I can't use it on carpet. Anyone know of something light weight that I can use inbetween dragging my bigger vacuum out? I don't want to spend too much. thanks

What can I do next?

How about a puppy?? Picks up cheerios....AND gives love and wiggly tails!!! lol
I have never been pleased with any handheld vaccuums...they look like they work so GREAT on tv and in the ads but when I get them home I am always ALWAYS disappointed!!!

I clean houses and the best vacuum I've used is the Dirt Devil Bagless Breeze. It's $55ish at WalMart. I seriously hate cleaning out the bagless vacuums but this one is worth it. Something about the filter/suction really sucks stuff up. It has no problem with stuff like Cheerios. It is lighter than most regular vacuums, although it isn't one of those light versions. One of the best features is the automatic height adjustment. It isn't a big deal to press the little height lever on a regular height adjuster, but the key here is that you get the right height every time and don't ever have to start over because it's not picking up right. Attachments are easy to switch to. The only thing with these is you have to be careful you don't break the tiny little posts that hold on the hose, these are prone to breakage as you switch from vacuum to attachments. I have a Kirby that cost a ton of money but now I want this one for my house. The Dirt Devil Featherlite is about a pound lighter and $5ish more. I don't know if one of their stick vacuums might do the trick.

i've had the swivel sweeper for a long time now and love it. a bunch of people have gone and purchased one after using mine too. it works great on bare floors and carpet. i use it for a quick once over on the house if company is coming but don't have time for the big vac and use it EVERY DAY for cheerios, rice krispies, etc. i know they have it at target for about 40 and have seen it go on sale. (and when the kids are big enough you can take half the handle off so it's just the right height for them and they think it's great fun to vaccuum!)

I got a dirt devil at target for 15/20 bucks and actually picks things up nicely. You can either use it as un upright vacume or a hand held. It's kind of nice that way!
Its the dirt devil Versa Power Stick Vac

Just got an Eureka Optima Upright Lightweight from target. Cost about $50, it is about 12 pounds, bagless, but you do have to empty the canister ever time you use it otherwise it will not work as well. I have only had it for a few weeks but I love it.

Dustbuster. It may not be a real vac, but I keep it right near the baby's highchair area and use it after almost every meal.

I have a eureka bagless 12 amp vac and I think it has great suction and it was inexpensive and not that heavy...I will say that when I worked at Merry Maids we used Oreck ( although the model we had was not bagless) and it was the lightest weight vac I have ever used. They are very expensive though. I love that my eureka was so reasonably priced and works so well, the cannister is super easy to remove and dump. Also since I can see I know if I have sucked up something I wasn't supposed to! =)

One Black Friday I bought a Shark 2 in 1 for $10 which can be a handheld or a stick vacuum. I also own a Shark cordless vaccum which runs somewhere between $20-30. Either one would probably do the trick.
