I Need a New Vacuum!!!

I need a new vacuum for under $100. I have mostly hardwood floors with one large area rug, a black lab and two boys under 4 years. I want a vacuum with a hose so I can vacuum in corners and even around toys and furniture. (I don't always have time to move everything out of my way.)
Anyway, does anyone have a cheap vacuum that they are happy with? Pleas let me know.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the info. I still don't know what vacuum to buy, but you have all helped. I can't believe I am having so much trouble deciding on a vacuum.

I have a Eureka Altima and love it. It has a bare floor setting so I use it on my wood floors all the time. It also has a turbo spinning brush attatchment thats great for stairs, upholstry and animal hair. My brother bought a dyson(too expensive)and really liked it so he became a distributor for them. He also owns a carpet cleaning company so he knows what's the best for carpets. Anyway he brought his dyson over to my house so I could see how much better it was than my Eureka. He told me to vacuum w/ mine first and then go over my floors w/ his dyson so I could see how much mine did'nt pick up. Well, his dyson did'nt pick anything more up. Dysons are great vacuums, so apparently the altima is just as good as the dyson and you can save yourself about $300.00

I have the Bissel bagless(it's blue) one from Wal-Mart it was around $50.00 and I haven't had any problems with it. I do clean the fliters on a regular basis, which really helps.

I have a Hoover Fusion that I bought at Walmart for around $100, it has many attachments that are all stored on the vacuum and a hard floor setting. It is blue and red. Good luck in your search.

I bought a dirt devil for about $50. It is not bagless and I like it much better for the dog reasons. I used to buy 200-300 vacuums and they would break after a couple of years because all the dog hair. I have been pretty pleased with the dirt devil.

I love my Bissell. I'm not sure of the model #, but it says Cleanview Revolution on the front, and has a detachable brush that has a spinning brush inside. It's bagless and has a 2 filters. I have a dog and cat and it works great. It has all onboard attachments, but I find my $20 shop vac works better in cleaning out the dog's kennel.

I have a lower end Hoover from Wal-mart. I love it and the attatchments are great. my mom swore a shop vac was a lot better for regular floors. She would have dust mop then hit the edges with the shop vac.

I too know what you are going through. I have a canister vacumn, a kenmore progressive. It is a bit over your budget, but in my opinion well worth the extra cost. It has a different attachment for hardwoods, the main head goes form harwood to carpet at the flip of a switch, it has a stair attachment, thin attachment for hard to reach places or crevices, a stir attachment and they all store neatly and stay in place on the vacumn. I wore out the first one and immediately bought another. I have 3 dogs, 2 cats a bird and 2 children whom seem to leave cracker crumbs everywher, LOL. I purchased mine at Sears online and have seen the on ebay as well. Best of luck to you!
