I have been dog sitting for the past month and have ended up with many accidents along the way. Now that they are got (thank goodness) I am ready to clean the carpets and get the dog smell out of them. I am looking for a cheap company or suggestion on rental carpet cleaners. I have berber carpet so just the average store bought is not strong enough to get all the water out so I have been told. I have just 2 rooms that need to be cleaned. Its a living room/dining room combo. Any suggestions would help immensely.

They rinse your carpets well so that there is no residue left in your carpet and they have gotten out stains that I NEVER thought they could - purple sharpie marker! We rented a steam cleaner over labor day weekend from Home Dept. It was 25 dollars a day. We were really impressed with the results.
Hi S., I had a very sick dog which not only pooped on my carpet but threw up as well. I used Dollar Generals brand "American Value" Orange All Purpose Cleaner. Not only are the stains gone, but so is the smell. You can't even tell anything ever happened on the carpet. I hope this works for you. My method? let everything dry, then vacuum, then take a bucket (container) with the cleaner and some warm water and pour it over the area, let stand for about 30 minutes. next take an empty container and old towels and a large spoon or other type ladle. scrape the chemical off the floor, applying preasure so the liquid is picked up from the padding under the carpet, drop the excess into the empty container. after you've completed taking up as much as you can use hot water in the area and go through the same process, allow to dry. it took some work but it was rewarding.
We also rented at Home Depot. The machine did a great job on all of our carpets.
