We cloth diaper and I love it. My favorites are bumGenius, Blueberry, Thristies, Goodmama, and TK Cuddlers. I prefer AIOs and Pocket diapers, but we do use some fitteds (Goodmama and Thirsties) with diaper covers.
Good luck!
I am considering the use of reusable diapers and have become interested in gDiapers. I would love to hear about some personal experiences with gDiapers before I decide to go with them. Or if anyone else has further recommendations of other brands of cloth diapers, I would appreciate any advice!
Thanks in advance!

HATED them!! They're a PITA to operate and overall more fuss is needed to get them to work. They leaked. They were expensive. About the only good thing about them is that they're adorable.
We've used a brand called "Kushies Ultra Diapers". They're an all-in-one and very cost effective. They work just like a disposable diaper in that they have velcro tabs (but they're just cloth on the inside). There is no pocket, so you don't have to fuss around in mess when removing the poo, and they wash up great.
My daughter goes to in home child care and when I first told her sitter that we were going to use cloth, she gave me the hairy eye, LOL After she had the chance to look at them she told me, "Hey! These are really cool!!" :)

You can also buy them on Walmart.com
I have used the GDiapers and really like them - they are great, a little tougher with poop but certainly do-able. I have found they are easier to use once the poops are more predictable, etc. I don't use them at night as my kids pee a ton and would always pee through. They pee through disposables as well.
I use disposables on my kids when they are infants/newborns as there is so much diaper changing that it was too much with the G's. Once we got on a more predictable schedule of poops and pees, I used them all the time during the day.
I did not like g diapers but love fuzzy bunz and tiny tush. good luck!
Well, I can say that I purchased the starter package, but in the end, didn't go further. While I loved the concept and they weren't difficult to use, they weren't absorbent enough for my daughter. I'd put her down for a nap and she'd wake up early because she had wet through. While I considered still using them and just dealing with the leaks so that I could be environmentally friendly, my husband said no way because the cost was just way too high in comparison with regular diapers. Luckily, I can still use the gdiap covers as cute little panties overtop of my daughters regular diapers when she has a dress on.
I've never used the gDiapers but a friend has and liked them. I cloth diaper and the brand I like most is biobottoms. I find ebay to be a great source for finding good condition used covers. Also, there are some moms who make covers and sell on ebay. I've had good luck with monkeybiz and turtletails.
I'm glad to see someone start this important conversation!!
Also, a little tip. I use gerber toddler training pants over what I normally cloth diaper at night for extra protection. I have found the toddler pants at both Kmart and Target. Hope that helps.
I like the gdiapers, but I cut some corners. I don't use them at night - I use seventh generation disposable ones at night - because while I've never really had them leak a lot, occasionally if he's really wet, the cloth outer will be a little damp if I leave it on too long. so, I think overnight is too long.
also, we're on a septic system and my husband doesn't want me to flush them so I simply throw the inserts in the trash. my baby just turned 1, and we didn't start using them until he was eating solid foods, so I usually just dump the poop in the toilet then throw the rest away. there's a video on the website that shows how the inserts decompose completely in about 50 days so I feel ok doing that. another thing - it's best to change poopy diapers as soon as you smell/realize because sometimes if he's really active the poop will smear to the rubber liner. it's easy to rinse out, just one more thing to do if you can avoid it....
also, they do fasten in the back with velcro so baby can't take it off, but it's right there on the sides and super easy to do....
for me, even using them at all makes me feel better about doing *something* for the environment.
Hello!
I tried them for my little girl and had a little trouble getting a good fit. I also felt like they leaked THROUGH, not around, the insert. That is only my experience. I read reviews before I purchased them and some people really liked them. I guess I was little lazy, though. Me daughter is a breastfed baby and (especially in the beginning) poops a lot! Those liners didn't stand a chance!
All I know about gDiapers is what I read in a review of them here: http://diaperfreebaby.org/index.php?module=article&vi...
But from looking at the company's website and reading what other people have said here about absorbency/leak issues--I'd say instead of one of the outer g-pants for $18, why not buy two good waterproof velcro diaper covers for the same money (ProRaps is a very good and inexpensive brand, although I ended up buying some slightly pricier Thirsties which fit better on my fat-bellied, skinny-legged son). Then a few dozen diaper service quality prefolds will cost more than the flushable inserts but you only have to buy them once (OK, maybe again after a couple more kids). They really are easy, you don't have to fool with pins. Ultimately all you have to deal with is extra laundry. I know you can also buy flushable diaper liners so you don't have to wash as many poopies. I bet one or two gDiapers would be very handy for going out but they're probably not the best deal for everyday use.
i used fuzzi bunz, and i have a bunch of size large that i need to get rid of if you are interested in buying them!
also there is a new diaper service in town that only costs $20/ week!!! they wash and clean them out and everything, you just put the dirty diapers in a pail and they take the diapers, and drop off fresh ones once a week. you do have to invest in some covers... and wash your own covers.
it's called good natured baby so you can google it if you are interested.

With all 4 of my babies I used cloth nappys religiously. None of them had a single nappy rash, it wasn't that hard to clean at all... Just throw them in a pail w/ a lid on it, wash in bleach, dry on high heat, DONE..( ALWAYS dry on high heat... it "cooks" all bacteria and germs... though I used bleach, I only used a little bit in each load and was over cautious)I got smart, however, and started sewing the soft "baby" velcro on the mto avoid the pins.... I don't know what a "g" nappy is, but if I had another baby, I'd never switch to a disposable... ever. My sister used only disposables. She spent hundreds on them. I spent about $40.00 at the start and not a single penny after that.. ( except for the laundry detergent and bleach)
I haven't used gDiapers either, but have been reading reviews about them. I recommend BumGenius 3.0 cloth diapers myself, which is what I plan to use in Feb when my 3rd child is born.
I am not so sure I would go to the extreme in a previously mentioned response that I "hate" them. THey are ok. Personally, I think they are not too bad. I'll say that they are not as absorbent as I'd like. Especially at night. You can do one of two things. THe more expensive route, it is to double a second liner in the front for your little guy. THe cheaper route, and the one I go with when my cloth diaper stash is getting low, is to use a prefold and use the gdiaper as a cover. It works VERY well.
The thing that I like is the fact that you aren't dragging around a wet bag with cloth diapers. I use cloth at home and gdiapers with family ( who are cloth challenged) or when we go out. Very functional for on the go. However, if you get a poopy diaper the liner (especially with newborn poop) can smear. It's very easy to rinse it out. Hot water and soap. I often bring some wipes and just give it a swipe while I'm out. My recommendation would be to have an extra snap in liner handy in case of a real bomb.
I have had gdiapers shipped to my house and I will say the company is amazing. Most of the time it is on my door step in 24 to 48 hours. I will vouch for great customer service.
My daycare child (girl) used these and I did not care for them one bit. This could be on account of it being a daycare situation and me not wanting to have 'yuck' on my hands when dealing w/ other children, too. They did leak, and I often had to clean the poo off of the liners and covers. It was just too cumbersome and inconvenient in my opinion.
Hi K., I know of a sweet young lady who makes her own.
I know she uses flannel as well as other cotton fabrics to make them decorated on the outter layer. She uses velcro for the closures.
From what she tells me they are very easy and only require basic sewing skills.
She also makes them and sells them to others who want to use them.
Would you want her info?
K.,
I use kushies on my son. They are cloth diapers with a plastic covering on the outside. I got them though walmarts site to store. They do tend to leak but I only use them during the day when we are home. They have saved us quite a bit on buying diapers. I checked out ediapers but it seemed to me I would have had to wait a while to get them. Im sure they are great, Im just impatient.
Good luck to ya and congrats on going with cloth diapers.

My sister and close friend use G diapers and love them my friend also had to deal with a broken one and said their customer service was just wonderful to deal with.
I use cloth and I love it I have done it now through three children. It has not been difficult at all. You can email me privately if you have any more questions, any specific ones, I could help you with : )
Hi K.. I just started using cloth with baby #3 and love Bumgenius. There is a website wwwsunshinediapers.com that lets you get a starter kit of different diapers so you can decide what you like and when you return them, you get a dollar amount off of your order. Also if you google coupon codes, you can find a $10 off coupon for diapers.com and they offer free shipping over $50. Cloth really is easy, not like it used to be. Good luck!
g diapers are a very strange hybrid diaper that are half cloth and half disposable... i HATE them personally. did you know they fasten backward? and the covers are not waterproof... so they leak and they're not really cloth diapers since they're disposable and you have to swish them in the toilet... don't buy them!!!
...although if you are set on g diapers i have a friend who wants to sell her stash.......... i could give you her contact info if you're interested........
we use REAL cloth diapers. prowraps and DSQ prefolds, with a fleece liner are my favorite, and i've tried lots and lots. they're also the most cost efficient. you do not need pins. simply fold the diaper in thirds, place it in the prowrap cover, and fasten the velcro. soooo easy. i cut my own cloth wipes and diaper liners out of fleece-- so soft and keep baby nice and dry. (also great for solid poop) and we also love fuzzi bunz, and some of my friends like bumgenius (i don't... because they leak and are bulky on little babies)
check out diaperpin.com for lots of reviews and info
Hi -- I love the concept of the gDiaper, but my son always leaked around the waistband when he was in these. Their customer service is fabulous and friendly... but these diapers didn't live up to expectations. Plus I wasn't too happy about the ongoing expense of buying the flushable inserts.
I still have a several of these left from the started kit we received as a gift. If you happen to live in Bloomington, I'd be happy to pass them along to you for free if you're interested in trying them.
We've been using the BumGenius 3.0 and LOVE them. They size up as baby grows so you don't need to purchase several sizes, and they're easy to maintain and use. Feel free to contact me with any questions (or if you're interested in the free gDiapers).
