Looking for Cute Kitten for Christmas

I have a little 5 year old Grand-daughter coming from Utah to visit us in Chandler for Christmas. She has asked for a kitten for a present for the past 3 years. Last year, her folks got her a "Fur Real" kitten. She loved it, but it wasn't "real". They are looking to adopt a kitten that Santa can leave for her at Grandma's house. I am including a copy of an e-mail my daughter sent me today about her conversation with "Boo" and her wish for a kitten. If anyone has or knows someplace we can get a little kitten for her I would be MOST appreciative. Her Dad recently spent time in Iraq (he's in the Airforce) and him being gone was really hard on her. She worries he's going to have to leave her again soon. Any help would be appreciated. Hope you enjoy the laugh from her e-mail:
So Boo is talking to us at dinner last night, about her kitten and when she gets it for Christmas. I asked her how she knows she is getting one, and she rolls her eyes, and says,"Don't think I didn't tell him what I wanted when I sat on his lap. And I told him "FOR REAL, NOT FUR REAL" and to get it right this year." We told her maybe Santa would have a hard time finding a kitten for her. "You are trying to kid me, " she says, "I know cats have kittens all the time, and also he told me he was bringing me one right before he pushed me off of his lap."
Thanks, Mall Santa! She kills me sometimes.

What can I do next?

Arizona Animal Welfare League is the best organization to adopt a loving kitten from!

I encourage adoption. I encourage you to please consider making a lifetime commitment to this pet. Where ever you choose to get it, PLEASE ensure it is spayed/neutered. I encourage you to keep it indoors, for all the horrible things that happen to outdoor cats. I encourage you to teach your grand daughter about unconditional love via a pet and responsibility by caring for the cat for his/her lifetime.

Adopt - don't shop.

I've volunteered for a local animal sanctuary for years, and helped many families with cat adoptions. Based on the experience of the sanctuary I have been with, I recommend that you let your granddaughter and her parents select a cat/kitten themselves. If you would like the animal to be a gift from you, then a fun way to do that would be to get your granddaughter a cute book about kittens and write her a note saying you'd like to make a special date with her to go and pick out a kitten herself. Then plan for a day when you and your granddaughter and her parents can go together to at least a couple of local shelters/sanctuaries to meet kittens and find one whose personality fits best with their lifestyle. It's important that her parents go along, because they will be the 'responsible party' for caring for the kitten if/when your granddaughter isn't willing or able to herself. I personally think it's important that you choose a local shelter/sanctuary because then you'll be saving a life - there are SO many cats euthanized every day because they don't have homes. But I won't go on and on about that...
I don't mean to dissuade you from the kitten gift; I just wanted to share my little bit of experience with cat adoptions and perhaps it would be helpful to you! Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I've gotten a "free" kitten through an ad and a kitten through the humane society, costs more to take the "free" one when you get their shots and spayed/neutered, I live them both though. good luck! :o)

You can try the Arizona Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. I received my cat through them and they are great at saving cats and keeping them from being euthanized. You can check out their website at http://www.azars.org/index.htm. Good luck.
