mmm what time is dinner?
My hubby loves to make corn chowder and he uses the recipe from the Pillsbury cook book. It is available online. He uses 1/2 and 1/2 instead of milk.
Hi All!
I love good home-made soup and I usually make them from scratch a couple times a month. But I have not even made Corn Chowder! And I am craving it. I remember eating such yummy ones as a child and at restaurants.
My Mom, has usually made the Corn Chowder... but truth be told, it is just okay. But I love it none the less, because I love chowder type soups.
But this time, I want to try and make one myself...
I have right now on hand: organic whole milk, bacon, potatoes, butter, flour (for which I usually make my own rue). Anything else needed?
Thank you!

aloha, oh man does my family love a good corn chowder!!! first of all i chop some potatoes into bitesize, dice onion and some bacon and just a little garlic. brown bacon then drain grease, add onion and garlic, saute until tender then i add carnation cream i guess you could use organic milk, 1 cn creamed corn, 1 cn kernel corn and potatoes add salt and pepper to taste and simmer until potatoes are soft... its the best chowder ever!!!!
Mmmm, my daughter and I love corn chowder - I think I'll make one today! hehe
Here is my recipe: (actually it was my grandma's recipe!;) )
I cut potatoes up in bite size cubes, and boil them in JUST enough water to cover them. Once they are "soft", I add milk (as much as you like, depending on the consistency you're looking for), one regular size can of cream corn and one small can of regular corn, and some small pre-cooked chicken cubes. I let it all simmer together for a few minutes, then take off the heat and add a cup or so of shredded cheddar cheese, and stir (don't add the cheese while it's still on the heat or it will make these little "clumps", and there is no way of "fixing" it once that's done). Oh and then I add a bit of salt/pepper to taste. You can change the amounts of anything according to your taste of course! (more or less of corn/potatoes/cheese,etc...)
Have fun and Bon Appetit!!
