Hello wonderful mamas!

I am starting the search for a private school for my son (he already has a wonderful preschool). He will be ready for kindergarten the school year beginning 2010. I was wondering if any of you have children that have gone to any of the Phoenix Schools & what things you like/dislike about them. We would be going to the one in Rocklin, it is the closest to us. I am also open to input about other schools in the Placer County area. We are looking for schools that have a well rounded academic program, but also want strong art & music programs. I am not opposed to Christian schools, but want the religion separated from the education (i.e. a religion study time each day is acceptable, but it stops when english, math, etc begin).

Thanks in advance for your input!

Our son went to their Roseville campus for preschool. We loved it! He has ADHD and they were really great in working with us (and not against us) to better understand his condition and make it a great learning experience. Our son learned so much from their program. A terrific mix of math, science, language (including Spanish), arts and computers. Our son has aced all of his academic reviews so far in kindergarten and I credit much of that to what he learned through Phoenix Schools. If we didn't have such a good local public elementary school, he would have continued with Phoenix in Rocklin.

Hi T.,

Im not sure if im any help at all. But we had my son in Phonix last year the one on rocklin. I love the teachers. But my son did have a hard time adjusting to new place. he kept running out of the class room into the parking lot. so they thought it was not a good Idea to keep him there. They were not willing to work with him on being in a routine. That takes a good month for my son. But other than that we love it there. I also had my son in Seirra christian acadmey we love it there. But he got kicked out of there also. He was not potty trained. They required fully potty trained children. He was 2 almost 3 then. great teachers great program. Children learn respect, loving eachother and behavior issues. they break down pre school to prek for children. Hopeit help a little.

Hi T.
have you thought about a Waldorf School? Live Oak Waldorf in Applegate is wonderful. it would be a bit of a commute for you, but a lot of the parents carpool. They go pre-school thru 8th grade. They have lots of music and art. kids start out on recorders and in 4th pick a string instrument. its all very hands on learning. they have a web site www.liveoakwaldorf.org the tuition is based on a sliding scale which is nice. give them a call ###-###-#### it's an awesome place to learn!!

Hello-
My daughter is currently enrolled Kindergarten at the Phoenix Elementary in Folsom. The teachers are wonderful and she only has 16 kids in her class! I was worried about my daughter adjusting to a new school so I started her there during the summer for their summer camp so she could adjust to her new surroundings before school started. I also like their program because Kindergarten is all day 8-3. My daughter has music, science, spanish, writing, computers, social studies, along with reading and math. Most of their Kindergarten classes follow a 1st grade curriculm. I would try to attend one of their open houses or call and ask to veiw the school.

I've met 2 moms who have/had their children at the Rocklin Phoenix school. Both like/d it and thought it was a good program. They weren't doing backflips over it but liked it overall. Personally, in my search, I decided to stay away from preschools that also did daycare because ratios can become an issue, and I felt like I only wanted the focus on school. I'm not sure if that's an option for you, but if it is, I would suggest visiting Rocklin Montessori, I'm really impressed with the school and have met several parents that are very happy there.
