If you've got the money to spend on it, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on the Plaza is fantastic. For two people, it's easily $150-$200, but trust me it's worth it...I had the fortune of being taken there for my birthday last year.
My 5 year wedding anniversary is coming up and we are going out to dinner. Any suggestions on a good "anniversary" restaurant? We have been together for 10 yrs but married for 5.

Not sure where you live, or if you are familiar with Lawrence...but we go to Paisanos (Italian) in Lawrence....http://www.paisanoskansas.com/ at 25th and Iowa in Lawrence, located in a strip type mall area.
Very yummy salad, bread sticks and food! Plus you get a free choice of dessert if you tell them its your anniversary. Yummy Cheesecake or a chocolate cake!
Happy Anniversary by the way, we were just there for ours in march for our 5th! :-)
I have to second Capitol Grille. Service is incredible and food is always great. Also let them know ahead of time that it's your anniversary...once I was there and the had written "happy anniversary" in glitter on the table. They really go above the rest on service. And as a Mom with a toddler (who is very restaurant savvy), I appreicate it that they are always nice to my daughter when we go there. They have even made her special salad plates so she'd have something to eat for her salad.
The Melting Pot on the Plaza! They have an anniversary package. It's a private booth, bottle of wine or champagne (personalized with your names and anniversary date), a picture of the two of you, etc. Well worth the cost and very romantic!
you have some tasty suggestions already but we love LaBodega on SW Blvd! It rocks! It's tapas and they make their own sangria. You can also get paella, which I've never had but have heard it's also awesome! The pancetta wrapped dates are our favorite! It's a very fun atmosphere that becomes romantic when tapas and wine are involved! ;)
Too funny - My husband and I have been together for 10 years and married for 5 as well! We were going to do a big trip for our 5 year, but with the economy we really can't afford to. So we are taking a romantic trip to Hermann, Mo staying at Hermann Hill. It looks absolutely goregous! Just an idea! But as for a local place to eat, I would recommend Skies at the Hyatt, McCormick and Schmiditt or M&S Grill both on the plaza or even just Cheesecake Factory. Hope this helps!!
JJ's on the Plaza is phenomenal. And they make the best chocolate martini in town!
Capital Grille on the Plaza. Hands down the best place for an anniversary. Call for reservations and let them know you are celebrating your anniversary. My husband and I go there for every celebration. They really make the night special.
The EBT but when you call ahead for reservations ask for an elevator. They are little mini private dining rooms and it will just make it a little more special.
Congrats! We celebrated our 20 last October and looking forward to MANY more!

I love the Bristol at Town Center, if you are seafood people. Scallops are awesome! They have a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache frosting that is amazing. It's not on the dessert tray so ask for it if they don't tell you about it. McCormicks and Schmicks on the plaza is great a seafood place. Happy Anniversary!
