Does anyone know of any good "mommy & me" swim classes for toddlers in the Chandler area? I'd like to get our little guy "waterproofed" as soon as possible. Many thanks!

I don't know any "mommy and me" swim classes. However, I would totally recommend the program that both of my children (ages 8 and 4) have taken. It's called Infant Swim Research and they took lessons from Ms. Holly. She is a Certified ISR Senior Master Instructor located in Gilbert (off 202 at Gilbert & Pecos). You can e-mail her at ____@____.com.

I would recommend that you come observse a lesson or two. Then you will understand why, this is the only swim program that has an endorsement from the Phoenix Fire Department. It is truly AMAZING!

Good Luck!

Last year my kids participated in www.waterworksonwheels.com.
They are fantastic, we are enrolled for the May classes this year. They do classes at Fitness Forum or FitnessWorks and you do not have to be a member to participate. They helped my 2 year old a ton, he cried all the time and by the end of the 4 week session he was not crying and swimming to the edge of the pool and holding on, I was very impressed with their ability to work with him. They also offer a mommy and tot class.
Give them a call, they are great.

I'm sorry that I don't have anyone to reccommend to you, but I can tell you who not to go to. I took my 19 month old twins to AquaTots, and I paid $218 for 6 weeks, and I thought that it was the biggest waste of time and money. I DO NOT reccommend them. What I really was looking for was someone who would teach my kids how to roll over onto their backs and float in case they somehow get into our pool (which they shouldn't because it's an above ground, but hey, you never know). I don't think that if we even had a year of swim lessons through AquaTots that they would have learned anything. The lessons there are very slow paced and take forever to teach the kids how to do anything new. I personally think that it is deliberate so that they can get you to sign up for the next level and the next level after that and just keep you giving money to them while not really teaching your kid anything. I talked to a couple of parents who said that they ahd been going there for two or three years. And then I watched their children in the pool, and they didn't even know how to float or keep themselves up without holding on to anything. Now there was a real waste of money. And they don't give refunds. Any place that won't give a refund, that's just shady business.

The City of Tempe offers classes at Kiawanis Park at Guadalupe and Kyrene area. I've been happy with them. We took our twins 2 years for parent/toddler classes.

Look at the City of Chandler website. I just signed my 7mo old up for a 2 week class for $20 through City of Mesa. They offer swim classes for all ages of kids, parents included.

We did swim lessons through the Gilbert parks and rec. last year, the parent-tot 1 class is for ages 6mo.-2yrs.
The classes are 25min. and are a small group of parents with their children, basically getting used to the water. It was fun and my toddler enjoyed it.

Aspire Kidsports in Chandler: http://aspirekidsports.com/

My son (age 4 at the time)took classes there last year and in 16 weeks of classes he went from not being able to swim to jumping into the water and swimming to the edge. Kids can start independent classes at age 2. My 2-1/2 year old daughter just started and loves it. The classes are small (3 kids to each instructor) and the kids seem to learn quickly. The cost for classes is a bit expensive, but you get good quality instruction. I hope this helps!

I agree with one of the other moms, Aqua tots was not a good swim school. My son went there for six weeks and I did not see him learn anything. They always seemed to be everywhere and would switch to something different even if the child did not master the other issue they were presented with. I also didn't like the fact that every week I took him, he would have a new teacher and would have no clue what they had "learned" the week before.
I can tell you that I do like the swim school,"hubbard swim" they are wonderful!! I took my son there and had the same teacher every week and if for some reason the teacher was sick the substitute knew what was taught the week prior. He learned to jump in and go to the side, monkey crawl along the edge, float on his back, and so much more!! I would highly recommend hubbard swim. They are opening a new location on Dobson and the red mountain 202.
I have also heard good things about the swimkids off of guadalupe and the 101 but have never personally been there.

Try AquaTots http://www.aqua-tots.com/
They have a facility in Chandler and they also teach classes at hotels to make it easy for parents to get to the classes. They do have parent/toddler classes.
Last year my oldest child took swim lessons for 4 months and she loved it!
