The towns that are convenient for you and that would be nice places to live include: Winfield, Wheaton, Bartlett, some parts of Elgin (less expensive but nice), Bloomingdale, and Carol Stream (less expensive but nice). If you don't mind traveling about 10-15 minutes south of Winfield, Naperville is a very nice place to live -- a good environment for kids! Good Luck!

hi A.. aurora is a bit of a drive from Central DuPage. We currently live in unincorporated Naperville and are still about 20 mins from the hosp. Add about 20 more from aurora. But i thought i would also let you know that we are building in Oswego...and will be looking to sell our townhome. Let me know if you are interested. EVERYTHING is sooo close! We have a great location. daycare, naperville schools, shopping, highways, etc!! When are you looking to relocate? E-mail me and let me know if you might be interested. J. ____@____.com :)

A.,

Aurora is a large city, depending on where you live CDH could be 20-60 minutes, but if you live near the 88 expressway it can be an easy commute. I live in North Aurora about 2 minutes from 88 and I worked at CDH for about a year on a contract. The commute had its good days and its bad. There are many townhome neighborhoods in this area. There are also many daycare options if that is a need. We have lived in the area for 3 years and love it. We too live in a townhome and hope to move into a house in this area in about a year. There are many mom groups in the area to join to get to meet people. If you have any direct questions drop me a note and I will answer them the best I can. Good luck with the move and buy warm clothes, coming from Florida could be a big shock.

Aurora is kind of a haul from Winfield. Warrenville might be a good alternative. It's a very 'homey', close-knit community that's a lot closer to CDH (Central DuPage Hospital) than Aurora. Don't get me wrong, I've lived in Aurora for 14 years. We bought our first townhome in Warrenville in the late 80's and would move back if I could. Also, strongly consider the property tax implications if you buy (instead of rent) in the Aurora/Oswego area. School Dist 308 just passed an enormous tax referendum a few weeks ago that is going to dramatically increase property taxes a year or two from now. They currently have 11 elementary, 4 jr. high and 2 high schools (1 new HS opened in 2003). The referendum will pay to build 7 more elementary, 4 jr high and another high school. The building out here is off the charts. Just an FYI.

Hi A.-

There are a ton of town houses around Eola and New York or Eola and McCoy. My husband is a realtor for the Aurora area if you need some help. Let me know! Oh and also if you are interested I started an Aurora Moms group 6 months ago. We have playdates and mom's dinners once a month as well as other activities/events. The website is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AuroraMomsGroup/
