Low Cost Dance Lessons

My daughter has recently started watching some ballet on TV and she mimics the moves pretty accurately. I'm wondering if this may be something she has an apptitude for. I was wondering if anyone knew of some fairly inexpensive dance lessons in the Garland area. I've looked at the recreation centers in Garland and while they offer dance classes for her age the times are hours I can't possibly make being a working mom. I've seen Mondays @ 10 am and Thursdays @ 1:00 PM. I don't want to spend a lot of money until I know she will enjoy dancing. I don't want her to be pushed so nothing too formal either.

What can I do next?

We attend Whistle Stop Dance Co. at the corner of Arapaho and Jupiter. I think monthly tuition for one class is $55, and there is a registration fee as well. The owner's name is Sandra Bell.

Good luck!

Have no idea how much they cost, as this is where I took dance classes circa early 1980's, but check out Calico Kids. I think it was somewhere near the border of downtown and North Garland, they probably have a website now.

I have a dance program at an outstanding preschool, Bethel Early Learning Center, located at Northwest Highway and Plano Road. We would love to have you at that school and to do affordable dance lessons there. We are professional dance instructors. Please contact Cathey Burgess ###-###-#### and she will give you a tour of the school/put you in contact with me for the fall program of dance. Hope to see you soon!

There are two Richardson Recreation Centers that both offer ballet classes as well. They usually have at least one during the weekend for each age group. their fall classes will start up in either late August or early September.

My sister took my 4 year niece to Calico Kids in Garland. I am not sure about the cost, but it was less than many other programs.(Check their website.)I went to the recital at the Garland Performing Arts Center and it was very nice. My sister was very pleased and my niece, who is normally very shy, loved it. She can't wait to perform again.

I hear you! I have my 6 year old in one of the Garland Rec Center classes but times are limited. I did find a DVD of how to Ballet for children on Ebay-perhaps that's something to consider? It's like a $6 DVD and your child can practice while holding onto a chair. She can do it as often as she wants since it can be watched over and over again in your home and she'll learn real moves. If you find she loves it and can't get enough you could always look into it further for more formal classes or something. Just a thought. :) Have fun!
