Hello...I've had mine since nov 07 and I LOVE IT!!! There was a pinch when they inserted it and mild cramping. But no problems with it, no weight gain, not for me. I had light period that after 1 yr went away completely. I am so thankful for this bc option. It really gives me peace of mind. hth gl :)

Hey H.,

In July I will have had the Mirena for a year. I love it and have suggested it to several friends who have also gone with it. It has worked great for me and I have not had any problems. Before Mirena I had heavy cycles and it has lowered it to a couple of days and only spotting those few days. It is great and I would suggest it to others.

H.,
I have the Merana IUD. I really like it. Initially I had some irregular bleeding but that resolved after about 2 mos. After about 4 mos I didn't have a period at all. It is the easiest birth control I have ever been on (& I have tried most forms of birth control). I definitely recommend it.

I got Mirena after my son was born and I loved it! It didn't hurt to have it inserted (just very mild cramping, but very quick) or removed (I didn't even feel it). I had it for just over a year b/c we decided to try for another one (we're due in Nov.!). I never had a period, only light off/on spotting for about 5 weeks, which is normal. I will definitely get it again after our next baby.

As with all birth controls (and other meds for that matter) there will be some with negative experiences. But from talking with other moms, I've found there are far more people who had a gret experience than a bad one. Basically, you'll never know until you try it for yourself, but chances are you'll love it!

I have had Mirena for about 4 months now and I am loving it. It has changed so many things. I don't cramp like I used to, I hardly have a period anymore, and my family likes that I don't have that one day out of the month when I act like the spawn of satan. It's been great not having to think about it at all. Hope this helps and if you chose to have it I wish you the same results that I have had.

Hi, I have to honestly say look into another alternative. My daughter (21) had the Mirena in for 2 years and all of a sudden found out she was pregnant with #3. Well, the Mirena fell out and the doctor told her afterwards that is is common. There is another product called Essurance or something like that but I just don't know. But, I am not a fan of the Mirena then again someone else my have had good luck with it or know of someone who has....but good luck to you.

I have posted this before but....I loved mine....until I got pregnany on it! I had for 13 months and loved it no side effects...no periods etc. I started feeling sick (morning sickness, sore boobs, and extremely tired). For over two weeks I just kept saying, there is no way I am pregnant! After two positive tests, I ended up at the doctor in utter panic! The big problem is that once you are pregnant with an iud (chances are 1 in 600 to 1 in a 1000) the iud has to come out which increases your chance of miscarriage to up towards 60%. It was very stressful to have an unplanned pregnancy then to find out you may miscarry! BTW, before having kids, I was on the pill for over ten years with no problems. The other big issue is that if I hadn't paid attention to my body, I would not have known I was pregnant til much later. You have no periods as an indicator that you are or are not pregnant! Good Luck to you in your decision. BTW, I made it through the removal and am now 5 months pregnany with my third baby who we jokingly call Mirena!

H.,

I heard many things mixed reviews on here about it but when searching the iternet i found more positive than negative and my doctor was sooo for it. She has even done it twice (had it removed to have her twins, etc.)

I had one put in December and for the first 3 weeks I spotted but I have not had a period since!!! It is the end of May so 5 months and no period I LOVE IT!!! Once I month (around my cycle time) I have a few light crampings but nothing near what I was having before.

For me this was the best choice!

I am on my second Mirena...Love it...zero problems...ZERO!!!
Love not having a heavy period...spotting about every three months...but other than that...nothing.
Sex with hubby got better too cuz he wasn't worried about getting pregnant!
Hope this helps, blessings on your new bundle and I hope you are able to make an informed decision.

Personally mirena birth control has worked well for me. The only issue I have experienced is during the first few weeks after insertion my boyfriend could actually feel the wiring, so I had to return to my physician and have the wires shortened. Which was really occured but no pain. Other then that I've had the birth control since 2006 and have not experienced any problems. Actually I love it. I'm in a monogamous relationship and after the birth of our first child we decided no more children for a while. I would recommend it, but keep in mind birth control does not have the same effect on each women. I like it so much I have recommened it to two friends and they currently have it. Make sure you get all the background information and fully understand how it works. If your comfortable after receiving the education give it a try; remember it's reversible if it doesn't work out. Good Luck

Honestly everyone is different but I love mine. I have had it for two years now and couldn't be happier. I haven't had a period in a year and I don't even know it's there. Having it placed is a little uncomfortable but it's totally worth it.

Also, I noticed there is a response on here that mentions Essurance. That is a permenant form of birth control so if you want more children do NOT get Essurance it's an alternative to getting your tubes tied and it isn't reversable. She also mentioned that her daughter's fell out. Your doctor will give you literature about the IUD all forms of birth control have a chance of not working. I was on the pill and get pregnant with my second so...anyway I recommend the IUD

I have the Mirena and love it. It's nice not to have to think about pills, rings, shots or condoms everytime you want to have sex with your hubby. I would highly recommend it to you!
