So we know that baby number three is a boy, and the name debate has begun. My husband likes the name Broxton, and I think its a pretty unique and masquline name myself, but I cannot think of a middle name that goes with it. I want to stay away from the intial being BA (as our last name starts with a D B.A.D. would be awful), BJ, of BB. Any ideas?

So What Happened?

wow! what a response! Thanks to everyone for all your input. I especially appreciate the people that pointed out the intials B.S.D, B.E.D, and B.M.D are just as bad as B.A.D of B.J. (James by the way is the first name I thought of untill I considered the intials) for our little guy. We have decided to honor a loved one and go with Broxton Thomas.
Finally I do think a name choice is personal to the parents, and as my husband and I have two of the most generic names ever we try hard to give our children something different, without being over the top. We realize not everyone will like our name choice, but hopefully our son will when we explain why we decided to name him Broxton Thomas.
Thanks again to everyone for their time!

Broxton Clay, Broxton Zane, Broxtan Cain, Broxton Sea, Broxton Koyle, Broxton Kale or you can go "redneck" and name him Broxton Ray or Broxton Lee. Let us know what you ultimately choose, and congratulations ;)

Congrats on your upcoming bundle of joy!!

You probably want to stay away from "M" and "S" names, too! What about Christopher, Nathaniel, Kenneth, Patrick, Robert, Thomas ...

Good luck with your decision!

Check this out: there's a web site called "Not Without My Handbag" that has, among other things, pages and pages of people debating about what are good baby names, what are horrible names, good and bad combinations, how different combinations of sibling names work, etc. I thought it was hilarious, and more useful than most baby name sites. ("Not Without My Handbag" is the name of a "claymation" film by the guy who does "Wallace and Gromit.")

My first thought was Broxton James, but thinking about initials (BJ) there is the bad association. My next thought was Broxton Thomas. Really strong. Congratulations on your upcoming son. We've got 4. My husband decided that all the boys would have his name, so we had no problem coming up with different ones.

Hi J.,
For my son, I used my fathers name. Just recently, I wished I would have used my maiden name since it is a normal boys name and my sister and I will not be able to carry the family name. Look in your family for one and see if you can find one. Let us know! Blessings to you and your family! (James?)

I wish I knew the last letters of your last name, that makes a difference too, whether it's an N or LY etc. But here's the ones I like without knowing if they'd flow with your last name:

Broxton Wade
Broxton Drew
Broxton Miles
Broxton Cole
Broxton Gage
Broxton Tate
Broxton Elliott
Broxton Thomas

I love figuring baby names out, let me know if you want any more opinions! I'm done with my babies, so this is fun!

Hi, Congrads on your new addition, for some reason (not sure why) when I was reading your request the middle name Lee came to mind, I don't know what your last name is but since Broxton is kinda how should I say "complex" name (which I do like) something simple like Lee I think sounds nice with it.
Best of luck.

Broxton Lee if you want to simplify depedning on how complex your last name is or Ray or Jay.
A million choices, what is a girl to do! This was a huge debate for my husband and i with our son, we could not agree on anything so we decided to name him after the grandfathers and I'm glad we did, it means so much more and they were very honored. Do any of your family names sound good with Broxton? That may be more special in the long run.

another vote for James, or other 'classic' names like Paul, William, Lawrence, etc. JMO but when a child is blessed with an unusual first name, it's good to have a more common name as the middle name in case later on he decides he prefers to go by a more conventional name at school or work.

I'm sorry for what I'm about to say. Being a mom and a gramma now, having had 3 daughters, and watched 5 grandbabies come into this world, the first thing I think about when I see the name Broxton is the contractions that we all went through - you know Braxton Hicks. Like I said , I'm sorry. If you go with that name, I hope you find a good middle name to go with it.

Name game is so hard and more work I think wtih boys. I have 2. I think you can be more unique with girls names then boys. I would know what having to live with a name like C. all my life feels like. Talk about getting a bad rap. More so affter I turned 21 but I was named after a family business on my mothers side. At least I have a story to back it up. When my husband and I named our children we had to go with a strong name. We thought about how the name would grow with them into adults. There are so many interesting names these days. My husband made an interesting point when we tried to name our first son. This isn't about what I like its about what that child has to live with and its about them not you. It may be cute now but think about how it sounds when they are adults. So giving them the option if they didn't like one of their 2 names they could have a more traditional name/middle if we gave them one that they might like better then the other. So we have Ryan Cole and Logan Paul. We get a lot of thumbs up on both their names all the time. Many strangers telling us how happy they are we gave them real names. Logan is still a little off the wall for me but it was the only name my husband and I agreed on. We also thought about all the nicknames and teaser names they could end up with in school. Here are some middle names I think that might go with Broxton: Paul and Cole of course I just think flow well with many first names. Charles, Lewis, Philip, Max and Lowell and David if it flows with your last name. Good luck.

How funny. I when I first read your request, the name I thought of was Lee, just like Michelle below wrote. Broxton is sorta a mouthful changing from the x to the t makes your tongue move alot. Something simple and easy to say make better sense to me. Also Broxton Thomas isn't bad either.

Greetings J.: I have had this discussion many times with our children's names. We have always tried to use family names to honor them, we have also used my maiden name. What I always wanted to do was have each son have the same middle name(we have one son that has 2) and that being my husbands first name. So wehave one son with his name and the other two we went with family names.
Congradulations on your latest addition to the family.Nana G

Congrats! on your new little one and a very cool name choice, I really like it and it doesn't seem to have any toxic nick names.
I have a friend who doesn't beleive in nick names so she doesn't consider them when naming her children.....not a good out come!
You might just want to look at it from a monogram perspective, what would look good bracketing a D or before a D and after a B. I liked T or K anything unround Taylor or Kent, Even is cool but it spells BED and kind of looks the same as the B. I usually like things that flow or have some type of meaning. Traditionally the Irish would give the first born son the mother's maiden name as his first name but it could work as a middle if it doesn't spell something.
