O.O.

Here's her question, and V.'s ETA:
http://www.mamapedia.com/questions/8996336751870214145
A minor child who posed as a mother to find support in a disagreement with her mother on here the other day didn't like that I called her on my suspicions. She's been sending me vulgar private messages all evening, despite my reporting her and telling her to stop. She has admitted to being the child, not the mother, and seems to have an extremely limited vocabulary consisting mostly of very unimaginative four letter words. I've reported her repeatedly, but I'm very bothered that there are minor children on here, first of all, and I'm sick of her poorly written, unsolicited messages. Is there a way to block? Or do I just have to wait for the moderators tomorrow?
I do wish we had a way to block people, or even better, report them to their parents. I don't wish to flame, so I won't specifically name, but let's just say oneperfectone is perceptive.
By the way, the TOS mentions that nothing on the site is intended for children under 18. Said poster is 13.
Thanks, all. I'm pretty thick skinned - words don't hurt me, I'm just tired of her bugging me. More than that, though - I don't like moms being duped into giving their time to answer candidly what they think is another parent only to find out they've unwittingly helped undermine another parent's authority. I'd rather see the blunt honesty people complain about here, personally.
Magenta, I do not disagree with your points. I totally agree that one shows respect to gain respect. I absolutely responded condescendingly to her. I refuse to show respect to a child who is deliberately tricking the adults on this site to try to get ammunition to disobey her mother. Had she written "my mom suggested I ask you," then I'd be okay with it. But that's like when my kid gets a no from one parent and then goes and asks the other. I don't like being tricked. And in terms of text talk, I know adults use it occasionally on here, but my point to her was that she showed her age through her immature language - it was a guess, and as it turned out, it was 100% accurate. Trust me, I'm not crying in my boots that she was disrespectful in her notes to me. Like I said, I have pretty thick skin and can take the ridiculous insults (I'm ugly? where have you ever seen a picture?) and foul language. I want this child banned from the site for violating the TOS and because there are a lot of inappropriate conversation for children on here. She's not the first kid here, but this is not a place for children with the types of discussions we all freely enjoy.
Gidget (love the name) - you are absolutely right. I was genuinely hoping to find a block button. But in lieu of that, I'm going to bed.
Eta - well, she changed her user name, so she must be scared her mom will figure it out. Moderator removed her texts to me, too. But what was wrong with the whistling ad question?!
Ignore it and report it tomorrow.

Here's her question, and V.'s ETA:
http://www.mamapedia.com/questions/8996336751870214145
Well, I'll just throw this out there...
This site is suffering from a severe lack of concern by anyone of the Mamapedia staff.
This is why we have whistling ads, spambots posting on every.single.question..... why we have trolls who keep returning.
Remembering that this forum is really only the website's 'wallpaper' for the ads they showcase and make money from....
... one would think that if one could use their pocket change to start a site which actually will track down and block IPs, that Mamapedia has enough money in the coffers to employ similar technology.... if they chose to.
Over the past year, while I really enjoy some of the regular members of this site, I have noticed that the overall quality of the site is sliding downhill. Which is a bummer, because there are some actual genuine first time posters who want help-- but it's difficult to discern who they are because of the alarming frequency of troll posts. I can't believe that everyone's life reads like a trashy-spectacle talk show, but we see more of those posts daily, which only feeds little snotty brats like the one who is pestering V..
I'll try to contact them directly, but I've been a squeaky wheel and they (MMP) for the most part have stopped addressing my concerns. They are fine letting this this forum go all scorched-earth on each other, from all outward indications.
ETA: got an auto-reply from the site acknowledging nothing more than that I sent them an email. Down the tubes.....
Report it and wait for monitors.
Or you can just delete it and ignore the foul mouthed brat.
Troll like that just wants attention - to get a rise out of you.
They want to gloat 'made you rant!'.
I delete hate mail and refuse to engage them in private messages.
If I respond at all I'll edit a post where the exchange can be viewed by others (quoting what she said followed by my response) and although we'll both look like idiots it's usually enough for the entire thread to get deleted due to flaming.
To really get their goat be sure to use big words.
Nothing is more insulting than to have to look up the words in order to figure out whether you've been insulted or not and it implies they are stupid too.
I get to gloat 'made you use a dictionary/google!'.
trolls do, don't they? and take pride in 'i'll keep going forever!' 'stance.'
hopefully the mods will do something, but of course then she can just create a new account.
i suggest you just disengage.
MP pulled my thread about the whistle noise (????) but are helpless to stop actual trolling. whatever.

They usually come on around 10:00 central and near as I can tell Shannon, admin, is a college student. So don't expect maturity.
I will probably be banned again for posting this but hey, it isn't like they can stop anyone from creating new accounts.
ETA: Now she has changed her name to Lisa. Good that MP removed all her private posts to you.
Original:
You have to wait for the moderators. Since MP will probably pull your thread, please do us the favor of putting her profile link up here for us so that we know who she is.
I just read the original and this. Wow! If she were my daughter I would introduce her to Ivory soap!
Trolling has become an issue here over the last several months. Hope the monitors can get this under control.
You gotta let it go. I'm really sorry she's bothering you, and her language is poor and inexcusable. But by responding and posting this question you're feeding her.
How do you win? Rise above it and don't engage.
Wow! That is nuts. What a complete overreaction to your comments. Sorry you have to put up with this until the mediators step in.
Wow. I read the post and what you said to her..it is crazy. Completely agree with you V.. This is such a young girl with such poor language. I would side with her mother. I also agree with Gidget though, that it could feed the bad side of her and make her engage more. I will report her as well.
V., while I in no way condone the child's responses to you and am horrified at her language, I think the lesson to learn here is that you need to give respect to get respect--even to children. She posted something hoping to get support for her side to present to her mom--big deal! Maybe her mom even asked her to do this for her as she was busy with dinner or other things--we don't know. And, I have seen many adults on this site use "text language." Annoying, yes. That big of a deal, no. Instead of ignoring the post because you suspected she was a child or just reporting it as against the site's rules, you instead responded in a condescending way while also belittling her by calling her a brat, disrespectful, and immature. When you dish out disrespect, expect that you might just get it back in return and more intensely than you gave it.
roflmao. try a real parenting site
get real parents (but all one word) with the usual dot and com.
Ugh - that would be driving me crazy. I feel for you.
..."And I hope the bed bugs bite" was kinda funny, though.
I saw that one, but I ignored it because I'm sick of parents asking about whether they should let their kids get piercings or dye jobs or tattoos. Maybe when my kid is old enough to make such a request, I'll be able to empathize. Right now, I have little to no tolerance. The answer is no.
I also love that one person replied that she is probably a "person of color". That was comical. Fyi, little "no-color" girls get extensions, too. They also dye their hair and pierce their skin.
I so don't care who posts on here. I answer what I want/can and leave the rest. So what if I spend my energy on someone whose question is not necessarily sincere? What did it really cost me? I got to think, possibly outside the box. I did my heart and soul some good by focusing on how I could benefit someone else's life. I probably took a few-minute break from work. Finding out that the requestor was likely just posing does not take away the benefit of MY experience, which I consider its own reward. I offer up my advice, and then I release it and let it take on whatever life it's meant to have, with no strings, and no expectations. Once I give it, I'm done.
Serious response... you're assuming that she "admitted the truth." What I see is a troll that stirred up trouble or a teen that responded like an immature child. Either way it doesn't matter because the result should be the same... report for the harassing e-mails and admitted violation of TOS regarding age.
EXCEPT:
This is a public site therefore even if underage people don't register they can still read what's written. The burden on making sure what's inappropriate to younger eyes isn't seen still falls on the reader and their parents.
It's not OUR job nor is it really Mamapedia's job to police/parent the site for minor/underage per TOS posters. We are not their parents. Dip your toes into the pool, ask questions and respond respectfully, and we tend to be accepting don't we? When it turns disrespectful we get out the pitchforks and worried that they're reading Bad Bad Things with their Virgin Virgin Eyes. Can't have it both ways because we're not their parents and we don't know their real age.
