My fiance put a wet towel in the baby's laundry hamper... we have to use a laundromat, and were unable to do our laundry last week, so it sat in there for two weeks until we did it yesterday... Im folding the clothes and finding mold on some of them... PLEASE HELP!!! how do I get it out? is it even possible? some of them are my favorite items, and I was hoping to be able to pass them on to my SIL when she has her little girl.

What can I do next?

I would just toss the clothes that have the mold on them. Just to be safe. Mold can be dangerous. :(

I was so glad you asked this question because I have the same problem with my baby's swimsuits after school splash days. Not to mention mommy & daddy's towels that never seem to smell fresh anymore no matter how much I wash them. So, finally I googled to see what I could come up with for both you and me!

Add 3/4 cups of white vinegar to the laundry load. "The vinegar will remove any moldy smell from clothing. Repeat this process until all traces of mold and its smell are gone. Use detergent afterwards to thoroughly clean your clothes."

Lots more tips in this great article!

Hope this helps! I'm going to try it and thanks again for asking so I could finally get off my duff and check into it too!

try soaking overnight in oxy-clean make up a thin paste rub on and let set for awhile then put them in warm water in sink and let soak overnight. it might help, I know that it got out ink on my husbands shirt and just plan gunk on those white socks, and underwear. Good luck.

he should help you with this---rewash the baby clothes separately, hot water, detergent, and bleach. do an extra rinse, or even another wash cycle to get the bleach residue completely out. check the clothes to make sure the stains are gone before drying them.

good luck!

I always wash my clothes with a smidge od amonia in with it - depending up the size of the load - I use anywhere from 1/4 to a full cup or more. - it helps to keep the moldy smell away just in case - just be sure not to mix with whites when you are using bleach..... but I have yet to find a load of laundry other wise I could not use it on
GOOD LUCK

Not all mold is dangerous or deadly. So I would suggest to wash in the hottest temperature possible and definitely put them in the dryer. If you can bleach them good, or even a color safe bleach may work.

Then once fully cleaned and dried check the clothes carefully if any signs of mold toss them.

Most likely it's not mold but mildew (which looks like mold on clothes) and you can get that out by washing most of the time, but there is a risk of the mold or mildew staining the clothes.

Good luck, I hope it comes out!

Put in a few tablespoons of baking soda along with your detergent in with the wash.
