I'm trying to find a GREAT orthodontist nearby West Jordan, but if in the Salt Lake City area I am willing to drive my 13 year old son anywhere if that means the job will be done correctly. Having a nice, happy, wonderful dentist is great, but I also don't mind if he/she is like Dr.House if the results are like his. From what I've been told by other dentists, is it's going to take a lot of work to straighten his teeth, so the important thing to me is how good the Ortho is. Thanks!
p.s. I do have dental insurance, but I can check into that later, and also if the Ortho can take payments it would be a bonus being as braces cost the same as a small car nowadays! lol
My daughter is 7 and is seeing Dr. Ellison on 98th and Bangerter and he and his crew are absolutely wonderful. it is a great atmosphere as well.
I am not sure if he is taking new patients, but I LOVE my ortho. My sister actuslly travels from outside Utah to bring her kids to him. His office is in Lehi, so not sure if you are interested or not. I think it is worth the 20 minute drive. Anyway, his name is Dr. Swenson. I don't have the number with me, but you could google it. I see a orthodontist for my daughter up at Jordan Landing. She needed alot of work , they had to widen her top jaw before anything could happen. Its called Bawden & Bills ###-###-####
We go to the Jordan Landing Pediatric Dentistry (Dr Ryan Johansen is VERY good). An orthodontist just went into his practice. We haven't needed to go to him yet, but it's worth checking out.

I agree with Caren W. Dr. Maxfield is a great orthodontist and I highly recommend him. My son sees him regularly and Dr. Maxfield has done wonders with his teeth. Dr. Skanchy is great!! he is in Sandy just off of Sego Lily and 1300 East. he is great and supports his local sports teams as well as academic acheivers. He posts newspaper clippings if any of his former or current patients /athletes/students get their picture or name in the paper.
Dr Poulson in Taylorsville is great. His office is on 5400 South and about 3200 West. They accept a bunch of different insurances and payments for the balance with no interest. He just started another Orthodontist in his office with him who is also suppose to be amazing we are twords the end of our treatment so we have not seen him yet. They did a great job on my sons teeth and everyone that works there are really nice and knowledgeable, they have had the same people(in the office and the assistants) for all the years we have gone. My sister used him also so we have been going for about 6 yrs. Highly recommend this office!
I would very highly recommend Dr. Michael Richards. He has offices in both SLC and Riverton and he is fantastic. I got braces for the first time at age 36 ( a year ago) and he has been wonderful to work with. He takes payments if your insurance doesn't cover braces, and uses the very latest technology to make the process as short as possible. He's great--I can't say enough good things about him. Go to damonbraces.com and search for a doc that uses the Damon system. It is a newer technology of braces. My teeth were horribly crowded and crooked and the damon braces helped my teeth become PERFECT in 18 months! Other drs said it would take 3 yrs! Fewer appointments, less pain, less time. I wish I could post before and after pics but you can see some on the website. I highly recommend this. Orthodontists that use this system are the top of the top and specially trained! Good luck!
When 3 of my 4 daughters needed braces at the same time, I went "orthodontist shopping". Of all the ones I saw, the very best one was Norman Maxfield. He has an office at 6243 S. Redwood and in Cottonwood Heights area. He does take payments (a must with 3 at one time!). He has TV's in the ceiling so that the kids can watch movies while being worked on.
I LOVED working with him! All 4 of my daughters have had their braces through him and he does a GREAT job!
