Your baby is the best gift you can give your husband!
I really want to get my husband something 'special' or meaningful related to being a father when we have baby #2. The first one came sooner than I had time to prepare. So this time I want to try again. I want to steer clear of knick-knacks like frames, mugs, t-shirts etc. Really want something speacial - maybe spiritual, intimate, at least want it to be extra special. Any ideas?

A. L,
This website: GiftsForYouNow.com is awesome and has all kinds of "daddy items" as well as grandmas, grandpas, and godparents, too! But if you really want the best gift make something for him (I think a Dad's baby album is a nice gesture). Good luck and congrats!

What a wonderful thing to do! I too, am very sentimental and love giving special gifts. If it were me, I would give him a large personalized canvas that you can hang on the wall. As life goes on and the children grow up everyone can appreciate it and be reminded of how great this man/father is! You can do this by going to: www.personalizationmall.com. You can choose between 3 different sizes, you can upload your own picture for the background (picture of Dad?) and you can choose from a selection of their poems or write your own. I wrote in some words I found for you to view. Copy and paste this URS into you web browser to take you there:

Good luck and congratulations on your unborn child!

Does your husband have any hobbies? I have many ideas so e-mail me back. I love this kind of stuff. I am a preschool director and a event planner.
Congrats on baby # 2.

I was going to suggest a portrait on canvas of your husband with both children or the whole family together but then I saw someone already suggested it! This website was featured on The View and their products have gotten great reviews: www.CanvasOnDemand.com. I will order one from them someday!
Well...
This isn't Dad specific, but I got my hubby some football things like a jersey and hat and antena ball when we were having our daughter. What mattered is that he liked it....and it's that time...football season!
Just an idea!
Hey OHIO natives - me too!!! I did this for Father's Day. Things Remembered in the Mall has lots of engraveable gift ideas. I got my husband a beautiful silver key chain with a locket type picture frame on it. I engraved it and put pictures of me and our son in it. He loved it cos he takes us to work with him every day and it has a sweet message and date of his 1st Father's Day on it.
O-H-I-O! We're Ohio natives too! Nice to hear from home. Anyway, as far as your husband goes, I am due anyday with number two and this is what I've done so far and plan to do - I had a session at the Picture People with just me and our eldest and bought one of the collage frames that can be changed and added to. I plan to have a pic taken of both girls as well as one of the three of us and one of the four of us. They're not posed portraits so nothing formal, but the ones that have been done already are candid and caught what life was like with one. He was really surprised when I gave it to him and asked if we could put it in our bedroom on his side of the bed so he could focus on it in the morning and at night, how blessed we are as a family! I am so excited that he loves it! Congrats and best wishes on number two and a happy marriage through it all.
What about a nice watch with your anniversary and the children's birthdates, or the children's names and birthdays inscribed on the back? It could be a sweet way for him to keep you all close during the day.
Or what about looking into having a local artist create a beautiful family tree that you could frame?
Another idea would be to have a frame with three baby pictures... one of each of the kids, and one of him!
If your husband works outside of the home I think a small digital picture frame would be awesome. You could preload it with pictures of your son, you pregnant, and some photoshopped quotes about fatherhood. Then when the new baby comes you could add pictures of the baby. This would be a perfect way for him to see and share his family while he is working without lots of pictures junking up the place - plus its reusable forever, just change the pictures at will.
