OK so I'm about 9 weeks into my second pregnancy. My first was 10 years ago! And now that I am over the horrible cramps, I have had a couple bouts of nauseau but the worst part of all is the MOODINESS. I will admit I have always been a bit moody and easily stressed, but now it is in over drive. How do I calm down and keep my emotions in check?

What can I do next?

I can relate to that. In my first trimester, I was horribly moody. I just did my best to take a few minutes to myself to just relax and concentrate on the good things in my life. I also made sure to get as much rest as possible (as much as you can get with a 3 year old) and do eat plenty of fruits & stay hydrated. Go out for walks when you can & take time (even if it's just 15 minutes) everyday for yourself. This too shall pass!

Hi S.,

I can only speak from second-hand experience. I only have one child and he is almost three. With that being said, my best friend of 15 or more years just went through the same thing, her oldest daughter was 11yrs old, when her now 18mth old was born. Have you forgotten what it is like to be pregnant? LOL

I remember during her pregnancy she felt pulled and more stressed out because she wanted to make sure everyone would adjust. But, she made it through it! I don't know her secret, but, my pregnancy stress relief was yoga. Nothing extreme or complex, just some stretches, an opportunity to clear you mind, and become centered. Even deep breathing is good for stress relief and it is quick and simple.

I hope this helps a little. Like I mentioned earlier, I am no authority, it just worked for me.

Good Luck!!! Congratulations!!!

I don't have much advice for this, but I am SO relieved to find someone in the same boat. I'm 13 weeks into my fourth pregnancy. I had mood swings, of course, with my other pregnancies, but not like this. I think I've had a fall out with just about everyone close to me and the simplest things set me off and ruin my day (and anyone in the vicinity). You're not alone!!

P.S. Someone told me it means this baby may be a girl. Who knows?!

Make sure you are eating frequent, healthy snacks with plenty of protein. That will help stabilize your blood sugar levels. I've even heard it suggested that you have a snack when you get up to pee at night. Try fruit and nuts, or cheese and whole grain crackers.

I'm almost through my first pregnancy but one thing that has really helped my moodiness is Vitamin B Complex. I quit taking it for about two weeks and my mood swings got really bad so I started taking it again. It also will help with Nausea.

If the moodiness is effecting you that much, let your doctor know and requests some blood tests to make sure everything is okay, that your vitamins & minerals and all are being met. You may be missing some key things that are causing the mood swings to worsen.
