I think you are just anxious about selling/buying/moving in general and are looking for trivial things to fill in the specific blanks.
I convinced my husband to sell our house near Wylie, now I'm convinced I made a terrible mistake. I am worried I am possibly moving my children to a less safe area. I also worry I will miss closeness of retail (Target, etc.). Anyone live in Coppell, FM, or Carrollton area want to chime in? I am so anxious.

Dont go to Carrollton! We lived there 6 years ago and the 2 years we were there all of neighborhoods took a turn for the worst.
Live in the Colony or Frisco. I LOVE IT HERE
We moved from Sachse to Flower Mound almost 4 years ago and I have not regretted it one bit!! We feel very safe here, it's a very family friendly town and while our daughter isn't school aged yet, we hear fantastic things about the schools here.
As for being close to retail...not a problem! You can easily and quickly get to most any shopping and dining you want.
Oh my! I live in FM and absolutely love it! FM is very safe! Police cruisers are around so much it is actually annoying but I know that is why we have such low crime. Our police blotters in the paper speak of small infractions such as people having problems with their neighbors or domestic disturbances but very rare serious occurrences.
As far as close vicinity to Target and such, that is my favorite about FM! There are shops, movie cinemas, Target, 3 (or more?)Walmarts!, Kohls, oodles of Starbucks, several Krogers and Tom Thumb, restaurants galore, cupcake shops, hair salons, and so much more! Everything is very easy to get to and convenient from anywhere in FM. Rarely do I go out of FM to dine, shop or even find a trail to take my dog. Oh, and we have a nearby dog park in Lewisville. I hear they are in the process of creating a huge park with a dog park here in FM as well.
2 malls are within 10 min. driving from my house. I absolutely love FM and plan to stay here for the rest of my life.
I can't speak of nearby Coppell as far as safety because I don't live there. It is an older community with establishments that have been around forever, mature trees and homes. Either town would be a great place to live!
We moved to Flower Mound 5 years ago from NJ. It is a great town to raise your kids! Schools are great and everything is 5 or 10 minute drive! Mall, Target, Walmart, Krogers everywhere!!! Love it
FLOWER MOUND!!! I live there now and have lived in surrounding area (Highland Village and Lewisville) for years. Both Flower Mound and Highland Village are great. Safe, great schools, lots of family friendly things to do.
Double Oak and Lantana are all right there too. They go to the same schools as Flower Mound and Highland Village. I know several people that live in Double Oak and love the area.
I second the response about FM. I live there, too, and love it! Everything you need/want close by; and close enough to Dallas and/or Fort Worth for fun things like museums and zoos. Good luck on your move, I think you'll like it once you get here! =)
I have lived in Sachse for the past 5 years and love it. I lived in Carrollton for 7 years before that and I would say parts of Carrollton have really gone downhill. A portion of Carrollton off Hebron is still really nice, but most of the rest is not that great. There is definitely no lack of retail, restaurants etc in Carrollton/Coppell etc. I work in Coppell and it seems like a pretty safe area, in fact parts of Coppell are high dollar. There are some great restaurants in Coppell, as well as in Las Colinas, which only a short drive. My coworker has lived in Flower Mound for many years and loves it.
Well, if you live in Flower Mound you don't have to worry about closeness to retail...that's for sure!! It's very safe, with very good schools. I like Coppell, but you'd have to drive out of Coppell, to get to the more popular retailers. And, oh my...the traffic!! For a not very large city, where the heck do all those cars come from?!!! I HATE driving in Coppell.
Carrollton? OH no. You don't want to live there.
