Hi Moms!

I currently live in Dallas, TX and my husband was just offered a job in San Diego yesterday - looks like we'll be moving...in a MONTH! Yay!! I'm excited, scared, nervous, oh my gosh! We are leaving everything behind and will obviously need to start over "new" in San Diego. My husband and I both work for Nokia here and he'll continue working for Nokia in SD as well. Now it's my turn to find a job. Either I try to stay with Nokia or do some soul-searching and figure out what I want to do when I "grow up". We'll be looking for a home close by the office, so I imagine somewhere in the 92129 or 92131 zip codes.

Anyway, I would appreciate it if yall can help me in some areas...

DAYCARE - we'll need to find a new daycre for my kids who are 2 1/2 and 7 months old. Are there any Primrose Schools in this area?

OB - gotta have one of those!

Pediatricians - Only the best for my kids! :-)

Work - Any ideas? I also have my own jewelry business with Premier Designs, I'll need help getting my business started in a new area where I don't know anyone. Any moms on here work for Nokia, too??

Thanks for your time! I hope to meet yall someday! I've made some great friends from Mamasource here in Dallas!

-Char

Welcome!
I can't specifically help you with what you are asking because I'm in what they call the North County which is about 45 minutes north of downtown. What I can tell you is that California people are a different breed of people!! I am originally from the LA area and I moved down here last November and I was shocked to find that even though it's only an hour and a half from where I came from... it seemed like I had moved to another state! The people and the surroundings are very different.
As far as your pediatrician...stay away from Kaiser. You're just a number with them.
Again... welcome to the sunny state! :)

You will love living here... it is our second time and I hope we never move. If you can get insurance that will allow you to go to Scripps Clinics and hospitals they are really great. I also needed fertility help and they were successful where others were not. (My son is 11 months!)
My OB/GYN is great, Dr. Kevin McNeely at Scripps and Dr Eddie Cohen is my pediatrician, very sweet. They are both in Scripps Rancho Bernardo. (near where you'll be living)
You may also want to look in Poway for a place to live... maybe more affordable and close to Nokia.
Good Luck and welcome to the neighborhood!

welcome to SD! what do you do at Nokia? I'm an in-house attorney at DivX (www.divx.com) and know a few folks at various tech companies in the area.

as for OB - haven't found one myself yet, but in general Scripps Clinic is awesome for all sorts of med. care. www.scripps.com

pediatrician: Dr. Ann Marie Engfelt at scripps clinic in carmel valley.

pediatric dentist: Dr. Steven Finger at San Diego Pediatric Dental Group - this is an AWESOME practice: http://sandiegopediatricdentalgroup.com/pediatricdentistr...
