Hi, mamas I need some advice! For the past three days my 5 year old son has been having nauseous spells. He gets hot and sweaty and sits down on the ground saying that he feels like he’s going to throw up. This only last a matter of minutes and then he is fine. At first I thought maybe he was fighting some bug, but this is going on the third day with no other symptoms. I can’t find much about it on the internet and I’m getting a little concerned. Any mamas ever heard of this?

What can I do next?

First stop, pediatrician. Second stop, ENT. It sounds like he might have an inner ear thing going on.

dehydration was my first thought... check with the pedi. to rule out other stuff.

I would call your pediatrician's 24 hour nurse line and ask them about it.

I'm surprised you can't find anything on the internet. In fact, I'm surprised you aren't overwhelmed with articles about nausea because it goes along with so many different things. Some are minor, some are serious, some are in the middle.

I would think hydration would help, no matter what the cause is. So, give water, popsicles, fruits like watermelon, and anything else that's liquid-heavy.

Call the pediatrician. The doctor knows your child's history, your family history, what sorts of things are going around the town or the schools, etc. Most importantly, the doctor or nurse will ask you a series of questions about what you've already tried, when it occurs, and all kinds of things that a bunch of moms on the internet can't possibly help you with. Your doctor has a 24 hour line - although of course you wouldn't call in the wee hours if it's nor urgent. But DO call today or at least first thing tomorrow. Otherwise, you'll be into the weekend and you will possibly have to deal with going to urgent care.

Could be dehydration or heatstroke. Some people get hotter than others, and can get dizzy or faint. I almost fainted a few weeks ago when I was power walking with a friend in the hot Florida sun around noon. Fire rescue was called out, they checked my vitals, and determined I was dehydrated and suffering from heatstroke. I overexerted myself, it was very hot and humid, and the sun was feeling very strong. I hadn't noticed because a few weeks prior, I had gone on a power walk with her at around the same time, but the temperature was also a good 20 degrees cooler, so that made a difference. If I stay out in the sun sunbathing, after an hour or two, I get nauseous and dizzy. The heat and dehydration can definitely play a part in that, and it quite possibly may be what he is feeling.

Is he getting hot and sweaty for no reason?
If he were 50 and having these issues it would sound like he's having a heart attack.
Get him to a doctor asap and have his heart checked.

If he's running around and getting hot and sweaty and then getting nauseous - he might be dehydrated.
Either way - seeing the doctor isn't a bad thing.

Call his dr's office. You might be able to ask the nurse if they can tell you what it might be or tell you he needs to be seen.

I haven't heard of this - no.

My advice would be to have him checked out.
