My 5 year old is complaining of a headache, and pain in her hands. Her palms are very hot to the touch, she hasn't slept well for two nights because of this. She now has a temp of 100. Any ideas of what this might be. Please help

So What Happened?

Trust me everyone I had every intention on calling the Dr. I posted this while waiting on the office to open and she had fallen asleep after a dose of Tylenol. The Dr tested her for strep, negative bit sending out for culture to make sure it isn't early stages. We also gave a urine sample which came back showing some blood, leucocytes, and a few other things to indicate there “may“ be a UTI but still no ABX to treat until they know. Dr totally dismissed the hot hands which doesn't surprise me, if they don't know they usually don't answer or acknowledge right away that's why I asked around before I went, to hopefully be loaded with questions. Thanks so much to all who responded. I will keep you informed on what they say. I will be watching her closely from home again today. Work will have to understand my baby comes first! Thanks everyone. I hope you all have a great day. Please keep her in your prayers.

You need to get her to the doctor. Why are you waiting? She could have nerve damage. Get her some help.

What does her doctor say? Did you call the nurse line over the weekend?

Well 100 is a low grade temp.
Keep her fluids up, give her some Tylenol and monitor for more symptoms.
I see nothing wrong with letting her hold onto a cold pack for awhile to help her hands cool off.
It might be Hand Foot Mouth - look for non painful little blisters on hands, feet and in mouth.
Our son was a baby when he got it but his case was so mild he got a few blisters and never had the fever.
If that's what it is, it's a virus and it has to run it's course - but it's highly contagious so if it's a confirmed case you might want to keep her home for awhile.

You should be consulting with your Dr and make sure she is seen so the Dr can diagnose her.

We have no clue what she may or may not have.

If you can get a walk-in to her pediatrician today, take it. If not, urgent care. The pain in her hands is not a normal symptom.

ideas on what this might be? this might be a good time to talk to the childs dr. get an appt and get the child seen by a professional. no one on the internet is qualified to diagnose your child using a simple typed out description o the issue.

time to go to the doctor. home treatment is great but if you have a kid in pain, you need more than internet advice.
for home treatment i'd give her tylenol and cool cloths for her head. a couple of cold packs wrapped in tea towels for her to hold.
hope she feels better soon.

Normally I wouldn't medicate a fever of just 100, but if she has a headache and pain in her hands, I'd give her tylenol. I think a cold pack might make sense if it's not so cold that she can get a sort of freezer burn from it. (Some ice packs say not to expose to the skin). But I wonder what the pediatrician has said about this. I'd assume she's contagious, I'd keep her home except to be seen by the doctor, and I'd spend more time calling the pediatrician's office than being on the internet. I know it was a 3 day holiday weekend, but every pediatrician has someone on call.
