One of my 3yr old twin boys pees on my bathroom floor. He trys to aim in the toilet but he has such pressure that a least a little bit usually ends up on the floor or wall behind the toilet, but the even bigger problem is when he is sitting on the toilet going poop he has to hold himself up with his hands and can not push his pee-pee down so there is a puddle on the floor when he is done (it goes right between the seat and the bowl).We have a potty seat that goes on the toilet but they would not use it.
We are still working on his aim I liked the suggestions of telling him to make bubbles in the water and cereal to aim at both seem to be working, but sometimes he just has to much pressure to control. Sitting backwards on the toilet for poops has resolved our problem of the puddle on the floor. Thanks for all your advice.

I don't really have any advice, but I just wanted you to know that I am going throught the exact same thing and it is driving me nuts too! I will try the sitting backwards thing and hope for the best.
Sounds funny - but try having him sit facing the tank of the toilet. He probably won't need to use his hands anymore to hold himself up and his aim should end up right in the toilet. It's kinda a pain in public restrooms because you have to pull the pants off one leg which means removing one shoe. But the results are worth it!
fpr peeing standing up, i used to put a couple of cheerios in the toilet and told my boys to aim for the cheerios. but be careful. my youngest stopped going standing up when the lid fell down on him. the only way we could get him to do it again was to have him stand on the side of the toilet and use one hand to hold the lids up.
We have a three year-old that was having the same issue! Basically, I told him to sit when he poops, but stand when he pees. It has totally solved our problem ;)

My son just got "over" peeing on the walls, floor, etc. It took a lot of explaining and then finally my mom bought him the little foam pieces that float in the toilet. He would shoot at them and he actually would get them out of the box himself and put them in. By the time the box was gone, he was always getting it in the toilet. We also got him the flushable wipes to clean up any messes he makes on the floor and this has helped too! I, of course, monitor the clean-up, but overall he does a fairly good job of not making a mess.
I got so sick of the smell and cleaning, that I put a container of pop-up clorox wipes in the bathroom, on the counter or the back of the toilet. The boys were expected to wipe around the base and front of the toilet when they missed. Well, that was too much like work, so they improved their aim REALLY quickly. I still keep the container there now that they are older, just in case their aim is off, which it often is, and they know to grab a wipe and clean it up themselves. It has eliminated the odor from the bathroom, and helped their aim as well. Even though they are only 3, they WILL get it! Good luck!
i've heard of others having great success with trying to sink fruit loops! My lil guy has always been content to 'make bubbles' by peeing in the water...
Did you try a character potty seat for the big toliet? My two boys liked the elom one ( which has a guard for pee when sitting on it)? I use the cheerios for the boys to aim at when standing, they really like this game, their father said to put soap in the potty so they could make bubbles, but the cheerios are son much less money!! Take a look at all the different kind of seats that they have to offer and always keep a stool in front of the toliet, this is helpful when standing because the view of the cheerios is butter, and when sitting they can use their feet for support. I did like all the other ideas about having cleaning wipes in the bathroom so the boys can clean up after themselves!! I am going to start using that one today. D., I get your frustration, a friend of mine has three boys and I myself have one, all of which have gone through this. The easiest, cheapest way to teach them to hit the toliet is to sit them on backwards. Have them face the toliet tank and straddle the toliet to pee. I works because their hips will be tilted forward and down. I hope this will help!

My husband told my son to lean over the toilet when he started to pee and so now he leans over and holds onto the seats. It works for him...
Good morning D.. I know this sounds so simple, so you may already have one, but my son needs a stool. He could reach to pee and sat to poop and still the same problem. He had 2 stools and never used them but when he started, it helped so much. He stands up on the stool so he has an easier aim. When he poops, he has leverage with his feet on the stool so he doesn't have to hold on with both hands, he can push to aim. That works for us.
Oh, also, he would go pee with daddy. He would watch daddy and daddy would give him verbal insturctions as he went. Good luck.
There are toilet seats that are connect to the standard seat for little ones so they do not have to hold them selves up. The web sight that has some of these items is onestepahead.com. Also there is this item that you can put in the toilet bowel for boys for aiming there urine and try to hit the bulls eye. I believe you can also find these things a little cheaper at babies r us. But I like to look at this web sight for ideas first.

This is not unusual. It is like they can play with it and shot things with it. Really cool....NOT. I tell you what worked for my nephew. We actually turned it into a game. We would put cherrios or fruit loops in the toilet before they went and they would aim for those instead of the wall, back of toilet, or floor. I know it sounds a little goofy, but what part of raising kids is not? With the sitting part, I think that just comes with boys. When they no longer have to hold themselves up, then they can hold it down.... otherwise try and make them stand as much as possible and play! I hope this helps! Good Luck....
I know getting my son to stand to pee was a pain. He finally has started. We ahd an aim problem when he was sitting. A friend suggested sitting backward. They can lean forward and rest on the back of the toilet, which automatically aims them down. A little tougher on public restrooms. Good luck. One is a mess, I can't imagine two!
Is he tall enough to reach the toilet? Maybe try using a stepping stool for him to stand on while he goes pee pee.

One word...Cheerios. Pop a few in the potty when he's ready to pee and let him take aim...it is a fun game and reinforces where the stuff needs to stay! Good luck!

Try having your little boy sit on the toilet backwards (facing the tank). It is a more stable position, and he can hold on with one hand and "aim" with the other.
