hi! my baby will be 3 months on 1st november. he is having dry cough from last few days.. its not much but he when he wakes up. he had wet cough cold and 100-degree fever last month and it took almost 8 days him to get well. I am using nebulizer with saline water. i breast feed him and also bottle feed 2-3 times a day. He sweats a lot. should i use pedialyte as some told me dry cough is due to dehydration. or should i continue using nebulize, breast milk. also i m rubbing eucalyptus oil on his chest. please suggest. i am worried as weather is changing n i dont want him to get sick again.

What can I do next?

Since this is a new cough with a different sound I think you should take him to the doctors. My daughter started with a dry cough in the morning and night...it progressed and she was eventually diagnosed with pertussis (whooping cough). FYI.... 50% of infants diagnosed with whooping cough require hospitalization.

My advice: Call the pediatrician today to be seen today. Bring the details you noted. You will get the best advice that way. I would never use a nebulizer on a child, unless it was prescribed. And if it was, use it only as directed. He may have pneumonia, stemming from the earlier sickness. DON'T leave the doctor's office without knowing what is going on with your child, what to do about it, and how long it's expected before he's better. I hope he's getting fresh air. Babies need lots of fresh air.

YOU may consider taking cod liver oil and PB8 to boost his immune system. I use Bioplasma for electrolyte balance. I, personally, would never give Pedialyte with all of the junk in it. YOU also might want to stop all processed sugar in your diet and dairy. Sugar dumps the immune system and dairy causes increased mucus production. Do this for at least a month and you'll see a difference.
