Is she cutting more?I think it is weird.I was just wondering if this was the case or if it is something else.....Bye the way...I love this mamasource...

Totally normal. It will go away if you ignore it. My daughter grinds her teeth when she is getting a new one in. After the novelty wears off she stops :)

Hello C.
I have a 11month lil girl who when she was getting her bottom teeth then her top started to come in she did it also.I think it was because they were new coming in and she was figuring them out.It also may have helped her.She has 4 more coming in on the sides at the top and bottom but she stop grinding after the bottom and top two were threw completely. So maybe she will stop when they are comfortable to her.It could also be because they itch coming threw also.

C.,
My 6 yr old started grinding his teeth around a year old and still does it. His dentist says it's very common for kids and most will outgrow it. As long as she isn't grinding them so hard she's chipping or breaking them, I wouldn't worry too much. It wouldn't hurt to bring it up next time you're at the doctor though... just for grins.

My youngest daughter, whos 8 still grinds her teeth. I've questioned her dentist about it, but she told me if its not damaging her teeth, not to worry about it.

i can't be of much help but my son grinds his teeth (so i'll also be looking for advice!!!) he's almost three though. but he only does it when he sleeps is THAT normal? i just found this out about a month ago b/c we went to visit my family members far away and stayed the weekend and i slept in the bed with him (limited sleeping space) and heard him doing it throughout the night... but he never does it when he's awake... it went through me so bad!!

maybe your daughter is "experimenting" with her new teeth?

It seems to be a normal occurrence. Both my children did it. They eventually grew out of it. However, while they did it, it drove me crazy. If they did it while they were awake and in the same room as me, I tried to distract them. I have to confess, I used treats (zwieback, baby cookies, baby snacks, and, yes, occassionally a lollipop) to stop the grinding. My son is now 27 months old and has not ground his teeth in over 6 months. I think they are just exploring the new additions to their mouth. Figuring out how they feel and how they work.

Good luck with your little one.

HI C.!!! MY DAUGHTER IS ALSO 13 MONTHS OLD AND SHE STARTED GRINDING HER TEETH AS SOON AS THEY BEGAN COMING IN. I FOUND THAT SHE DID IT MORE WHEN HER DADDY WAS WITH HER BECAUSE HE MADE SUCH A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT. HE WOULD CRINGE (VISIBLY) AND TELL HER NICELY TO STOP IT AND I THINK SHE FOUND THE ATTENTION FUN. I WOULD TRY MY BEST TO IGNORE IT AND NOT MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT AND SHE DIDN'T DO IT AS MUCH FOR ME....LUCKY!!!! I DON'T KNOW IF YOU MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF TELLING HE NO-NO, BUT MAYBE IF YOU TRIED (IT IS HARD I KNOW) TO IGNORE THE SOUND, MAYBE SHE WILL GET TIRED OF IT ON HER OWN. GOOD LUCK!!!! BE PATIENT, IT DOES EVENTUALLY STOP!!!
