I am not asking for free handouts from anyone on here please don't get me wrong. I just don't know where to turn.
I had to go back to work just to make ends meet. Well my husbands company just told him today they are cutting his pay. So now ends aren't being met again. We can't make out house payment this month, probablly won't be able to make our car payment, and we are so far in the hole with the bank my husbands paycheck didn't even cover it. We have no money until I get paid and all of that will probablly be gone once the bank gets a hold of it.
My husband company isn't doing Christmas bonuses this year because of the economy and that was the money we were going to use to get our kids Christmas with. I don't care if my husband and I go without but I don't want my kids to go without.
If someone could give me some ideas on what to do I would greatly appreciate it. Again I am not looking for free handout from anyone on here, just some ideas.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

What can I do next?

Hi B. - my company always "adopts" a family every Christmas from the Don Bosco Center here in KC. The family puts together a "wish list" and we get pretty much everything they need, wrap everything as Christmas gifts and deliver it to the center about a week before Christmas. I don't know the protocol for getting on their list, but it would be worth looking into for the holidays. Their website is www.donbosco.org - good luck!

Grocery wise - Aldi's and/or ONLY buy what's on special. Make your menus according to what you have in the house and/or what's on special that week. Drink more water for the adults. Kids of course need milk.
Go through your check book and see what your really spending your money on. Get serious about cutting out what you do not NEED.
Make Christmas gifts or make the gift a family outing.
You sound strong and with family, friends and God, you can do this!

We've all been there, girl (and if not, we know it's always a dreaded possibility!) Here's a number to an Emergency Assistance Center of Johnson County for Spring Hill: ###-###-#### (They offer temporary assistance for food, prescriptions, gasoline, utilities, and rent for Johnson County residents.) Certainly they should be able to help cover some costs or at least direct you to resources that can.
Also, on Craig's List, scroll down and look under "Gigs." Sometimes they have one day-get paid right away jobs, like participating in a focus group, or manning a booth at the mall, stuff like that. Maybe they have something you could do on one of your hubby's day off for some quick cash.
Also, you can go to a blood bank where they will pay you for your plasma donation. I think you get, like $25 each donation, something like that.
Hang in there, and keep your chin up! :)

jennifer had great advice. i also wanted to let you know that you're not alone. my hubby and are "supposed" to make 40,000 per year between the both of us, and if it even looks like rain, he doesn't work because of his job. it's tough! we have used harvesters and catholic charities to help us get by during tight times (i don't have specific info on them because my husband did the "getting" but the internet is a wonderful thing, i bet you can find whatever you need, if it got to that point).

but the main thing i wanted to say is, is it even legal for them to cut his pay? i lived in florida for several years and i think this was one of those discussions i had down there - the law may be different here, but as far as i know, unless they forced him into a lower position, you can't just lower someone's salary like that. you might look into that. i know times are tough, and there are a lot of layoffs going on, but you gotta fight for yours. do some googling and see what you can find. just in case. good luck!

One other suggestion. Call your mortgage company and car company and let them know your situation. I think creditors are far more sympathetic if you stay in contact with them and make a good faith effort to make payments, vs. avoiding them and then calling when your 6 months in the hole. I will be praying for you!

Angel Food Network partners with local churches and you order food for $30, I think. There is a set menu and it enough for a family of four for about a week. You still have to get a few things like milk, but it is a pretty good deal. Some of the meat is kinda tough, but put is in your slow cooker with a few spices and a little water. That'll tenderize it. You can google the company and it'll take you to the church close to you that has the food. Aldi's is the lowest priced groceries I have found. Pray. Pray. Pray. And believe that God cares. Trust in Him. I know it is scary, but if you glorify Him, he will NOT let you down.

My company recently cut all employee's pay 10%!! I was mortified! My husband is a police officer and was already working more than 40 hours a week. We were already paycheck to paycheck and this just about killed us. Until a friend introduced me to a company called Work At Home United. I started a home-based business to supplement my pay cut. I've only been doing it for a few months and it's going really well. If you'd like some details, go to www.WAHU2DAY.com or email me at ____@____.com. I know it could make a difference to you and your family too!

I would suggest trying to get placed on the Angel Tree, I think they are ran by the Salvation Army. I see the trees in malls, A needy family puts a wish list for their child on the angel and another family buys the gifts. You could also talk to toys for tots and see if you qualify for their assistance this season. If you are in the position to qualify for food stamps then your social worker may be able offer some suggestions. Good Luck

You might check with the Johnson County Christmas Bureau as far as the christmas side of things. There is also a Johnson County MultiService Center which may be able to help you with some basics - food and toiletries. Catholic Charities also has a food pantry, etc. Don't look at it as a hand out, look at it as a blessing that these resources are available. If you are able to, consider taking Financial Peace university by Dave Ramsey - it is one of the greatest things I have ever done.

May god Bless you
