I have kind of a personal question for you ladies. I have had a Mirena IUD for three years now and have had no problems what so ever other then normal spotting and what not. About a month ago whenever I would have intercourse I would bleed and not a lot but more then the normal spotting I was having before. Has anybody else had this problem? If so what caused it? I'm going to go to my OB it's just that I have to wait for my insurance to kick in and am starting to freak out just a bit. Thanks for any advice you can give.

What can I do next?

I have the ParaGuard IUD, due to the fact that I have endo and can not take any thing hormonal. I nave not had it very long but have some of the same issues as you. I have spotting frquently but not enough to have to wear underwear protection. During intercourse, especially a little more passionate intercourse (sorry TMI) I do notice bleeding afterward. I have been a little worried about this as well and have scheduled an Appt. with my ob. I see her in 2 weeks and If you have not seen your Dr. by then I will let you know what she says and if she has any suggestions. Sorry I don't have any advice for you.

Interesting.... I had the Mirena IUD, it hurt me the whole time during sex, finally after two years of pain I had it taken out. Turns out I had really bad problems from it. I had giant cysts on my ovaires and uterus problems, ended up having major surgery. But I think with just bleeding it's probably rubbing up against the side of your uterus during sex, you could always try the County Health Clinic for a prorated price. You should get it checked out.

I don't think you have to wait for your insurance to kick in to call your OB with your concerns. If your doctor believes there is a serious concern of the spotting he we would let you know. He has your chart, knows your history....but usually the first thing they make you do it a pregnancy test, always to be sure.
Personally, i had the paraguard IUD for 10 years and at don't remember any spotting changes. i did have major bleeding when it had dislodged and was time to come out. i don't know how long your IUD is meant to be in place.

I have had the Mirena for 2 years now and I haven't had any of theose issues. I had irregular bleeding for the first few months, then a light cycle every month for the 1st year and now starting on my 3rd year. I have a period, maybe every other month or every 3 months. I think you should call the your OB and just ask over the phone first. My OB doesn't charge for over the phone info. I just think yours has possibly shifted to where is shouldn't be or there are other internal issues that you must seek medical attention for.

Good luck.
