Have you tried one of those kid friendly places where they sit in a chair that looks like a rocket or something fun? I'm not really into those kind of places, but it seems that this is causing you stress so it might be worth it!
Okay, ever since my son was about a yr old, we have taken him for a hair cut about every 6-8 months. We like to keep it short like a buzz cut...however we have tried to just cut it with scissors but u know how hard that can be with a fidgety toddler. ANYWAYYYY..he hates the sight of his hair everywhere. We thought maybe it was the sound of the clippers but he freaked out with the scissor haircut as well. I am talking screaming face red, almost not breathing type of cry. He is ok for the first cpl seconds til he sees hair on the cape or the floor.
I even tried putting headfones on (the kind that go over the head) and letting him listen to music to keep him distracted that didnt help, or have a tv on and that didnt help. Any ideas on how to make this a smoother event, he is needing another one badly, but becuase of how he acts, i always put it off as long as i can.

Hi B., I had the same problem with my son who is 3 years old. I felt so bad for the person who had to cut his hair, I tipped her extra just for putting up with his screams and cry. What I found that worked is taking him often and with the same person. Make sure whoever cuts his hair likes children, enough to put up with their tantrums. Now I go about every month and call before hand to make sure his "personal stylist" is their to cut his hair. Good luck!
HOLD HIM DOWN!!!! haha. It is so nice to hear I am not alone in this situation! My son has been getting haircuts since about 8 months old, always with scissors and always was fine. He sat there like an angel. Then when he was about 1 and a half the lady snipped his ear. Ever since he has been histerical! The second I mention hair cut he screams! He is now a little past 2 years and I still go through it. We now just take him in for the buzz cut and I literally have to hold him down! I hold his body between my legs and I hold his head with his hands. I haven't found anything that works, but its nice to know that I am not alone. Good luck to you!
My son is younger than yours, but he always hated his haircut too. I just took him more often, and eventually he got used to it. He still doesn't like it, but he eventually accepted it. Now he doesn't scream or cry(at least not like he used to). I know friends of mine have had the same experience as well, and it seemed to work the same way. The more you take them, the faster they realize it is a part of life. Good luck!
Hi B....I loved the post about holding him down. How funny! Well, as funny as it may sound, that's kind of what we had to do, also. We just had to go in there and BEAR IT. The crying (which leads to snot), the screaming, the hair in the mouth, the squirming, etc. We also put it off as long as we possibly could. I feel your pain! We are at the point now, although getting a haircut is a pain in the rear, I was able to learn how to cut hair at home with my hubby's electric trimmers. Talk about easy - and cheap! (I'm an accountant, by the way, not a beautician!) :)
