Hello...My daughter is going to be 3 months next week. She is great at sleeping through the night and only waking up once to eat. During the day is a different story. Her naps range from all hours of the day and most the time when I put her down, she doesnt stay down for very long. I just switched her to her crib during the day about a week ago but she sleeps the same as if she was in her pack n play in our bedroom. I want to get her set times during the day to sleep. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

What can I do next?

I recommend getting any of the books by "the baby whisperer". I started my son on her E.A.S.Y method at 2 months and really helped with nap times.

You could try stripping her down during the hours you want her to be awake an put the warm clothes back on for naptimes. After a week or two she should be in the routine for awake and sleeping times.

Personally, I think that since she is sleeping through the night you should let her sleep when she needs to during the day. She doesn't need any stress from sleep changes as this beautiful young age. Just love her, hold her, feed her and treasure these precious days... and celebrate that she sleeps at night!!!!!

Just wanted to say I am so envious of you. My son didn't start sleeping threw the night with one wake up till 8 months. He would take naps threw the day. Like an hour or so. Make sure she has a full belly, clean diaper, and a little white noise maker will help her. Also a dim room helps alot too. Good luck.

My son is 11 months now, and the closest we have been able to get him to set nap times is within a 2 hour range (nap 1 about 3 hours after he wakes, nap 2 about 3 hours after he wakes from nap 1). I think it varies because he is so busy learning new stuff.

I am telling you all of this, because we were not able to get to this point until he was over 9 months old. I used to stress about it, reading internet advice and books. I think it will just naturally happen (with a little of your help) when ever your babe is ready.

I know it's not really helpful advice, but just a nugget of what I have learned so far! I know my boy feeds off my energy (so much!) so if I am stressed about something, he gets stressed and the problem just magnifies! Try not to stress, and just enjoy your beautiful sweet baby!!!!

Good luck!

Babies at this age are just starting to get into their routine (and it will change again before you're ready). For my babies I put them on a feeding schedule at that age of between 2.5 to 3 hours (that's breastfeeding). For their naps I would always feed, burp, change them and them put them down for their nap when I saw they were tired. If you try to put them down when they're not tired it's not going to work. Check out the book The Baby Whisperer for more advice about learning how to discover what your baby needs according to their sounds.

You can't spoil a baby. If you are answering her needs whether they be physical or emotional than you are doing the right thing. Babies only cry when they need something. That something may be feeding, changing, rocking, holding, putting to sleep, etc. Congratulations and Good Luck!

My little guy is 3 months as well. Do you feed M on a schedule or routine? That helped mine with sleeping. As soon as he wakes up, I feed him as much as possible. Then I keep him awake doing tummy time, bath, playing, etc. He starts yawning or rubbing his eyes when he's tired, then I put him down for nap and the routine starts again. He eats about every 3ish hours, so I can estimate when he'll be napping. The trick is keeping him awake during and after feeding during the day. At night, eat and sleep only. Hope this helps!

She is 3 months old, she will be on her own routine. She is going to be doing so much developing, during the next few months that she is going to want to nap at different times. I know it goes old you can't get a break, but if she is rested she will be a lot more fun to be around. Just look for her signs of being tired, rubbing her eyes, crying, sleepy after eating. I wouldn't try a nap schedule until she is at least 5 months. That is what I did with my son, who is 7 months. I hope this helps. My cousins wife tried that No-Sleep Solution and it looks like they also wrote a No-Sleep Solution for napping, maybe that will be a help also.

There is a book called "Sleeping through the night". I cannot remember who it is by. All of our 3 have had the same trouble. I heard about this book from a friend and it has SO MANY great ideas depending on the age and exactly what the problem is. I would reccommend you purchasing it and giving it a try. I bet you could get it on AMAZON.COM used for little or nothing. Good Luck!

There is a really interesting book called the 90-Minute Baby Sleep Program by Polly Moore. It really helped me understand my little girl's sleep cycles and get her on more of a schedule.
