Does anyone know a good stain-remover for the laundry that is natural, without petroleum, bleach, fragrances, or other harsh chemicals? I only use Green cleaners in my home, and so I will not use products such as Shout! and Tide Bleach Pens. I normally use 7th Generation on my clothes, and Green Mountain Baby on my son's clothes, and I have always been very pleased with both, but the baby-food carrot, sweet potato, and tomato stains are not coming out in the wash, even when I use hot water. I'm really not sure what to do! His clothing is staining so fast that I'm beginning to consider just stripping him before every meal. If you have had a good experience with a product, please let me know!

I recently bought the reader's digest book: Homemade.
It has a bunch of solutions for a multitude of things. You might enjoy it.
Tomato sauce remover:
1/2 c 3% hyrdogen peroxide 3 c water
soak 30 min before laundering
Hello! We too try to live a Green Lifestyle. Another Green friend of mine pointed me in the direction of the most amazing stuff. It is called Nature's Miracle. This stuff will take out anything. The only place I have found it sold is at Petsmart, here is the website. http://www.naturemakesitwork.com
Good Luck!!!

Have you tried Hydrogen Peroxide?
Hello Amanda, I applaud you on so many levels. Living Green is not difficult, just take some planning and setting priorities. However....when you consider the time and water you are using to try to keep your children's clothing looking nice, perhaps you could make a little "adjustment" to your thinking. After all, you have spent good money on his clothing and you don't want to waste that "green".
Oxyclean is a true miracle worker. I use it to remove old stains from my precious antique linens all the time and have removed blood, formula, and food stains from many things. I use my kitchen sink, make a hot soak with some Oxyclean and sometimes have to let things soak 24 hours. Then I triple rinse to remove all residue. you could just then put whatever you have soaked in with the regular wash.
I am sure you have tried making a paste of baking soda and putting on stains?
Good for you being a stay at home mom...and thanks for being a resucer of those animals. you have a heart full of love!

Hello- I have heard that the Clorox Greenworks Stain remover is great-I have seen it at Wal-mart and Target. I have not used it yet though.Hope this helps!!!
A little about me: I am a stay at home mom-of 4 children and 1 on the way. I am due in the middle of Nov.!!!! We home-school-try to live as green as we can,eat mostly organically, and no vaccines!!!!
Have you tried Dr. Bronner's? I've used that on lots of stains. Good luck!
Hi Amanda,
Soak the stained areas with lemon juice, then let dry in the sun. Drying in the dryer can set the stains, making it even harder to get them out.
Why not just strip the baby before meals? and plop him in the tub immediately afterwards? We did that more than once with our two boys. Your kid has the rest of his life to go to formal dinner parties, etc.
I used to use Totally Toddler, which is an enzyme-based cleaner (my kids are teens now and we no longer have this problem, so take heart--and take photos! you will smile at them years from now).
Someone mentioned Nature's Miracle--i believe PETCO also sells it. I have used it for pet odors, it is pretty good.
HAve fun and enjoy your little one!

IMMACU-10!!! That stuff takes out EVERYTHING. It's enzyme based, not chemical. I've even take off permanent black ink from a white sweatshirt. AWESOME STUFF! If you can't find it on the internet, let me know. I have some extra in my laundry room. I use it for EVERYTHING from floors to windows to carpet to laundry. Saves on lots of extra cleaners (except disinfectants) AND safe, too! I live in the Fishers, IN area.
Someone just told me the other day to try dish soap - she swears by it! I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to for the next stain which I am sure will occur within the hour :)
good luck, let us know what worked!
Hi Amanda,
Good for you avoiding all those nasty toxic ingredients! All of Shaklee's products fit what you're looking for and in tests they cleaned better than even the products you're already using. They have a brightener called Nature Bright but I use the liquid laundry product to spot treat stains then add Nature Bright if still needed. You'll find these products are considerably less expensive than 7th Generation, too. Here's where you'll find Nature Bright (and the other products too). Keep up the good safe product use! http://changinglives.myshaklee.com/us/en/products.php?sku...

Have you tried drying the clothes in direct sunlight after you spray/wash them - sometimes I have clothes come out of the wash (after being sprayed/scrubbed) with a food stain - put it in the sun to dry and the stain is gone...doesn't work on everything, but worth a try. Good luck.
I know how you feel about stains! When my son was a baby, he would spit up daily, sometimes several times. It seemed like it was always carrot/sweet potato baby food, too! So, I went through a lot of laundry stain-removal spray. The products I used were free of the harsh chemicals you are concerned with, and they worked great. I use products from Melaleuca. I have been a happy customer for over a year now. They have some great products to get even tough stains out of the clothes. Let me know if you need more info!
Fels Naptha!!! Works great! My husbands 86 year old grandmother told me about it & I have told everyone I could! It is a little hard to find but you can find it online & at small hardware stores. It is a very old bar soap but works great when a little water is added & you apply to the stain with an old tooth brush. Good Luck!
Hot water sets stains in especially anything in the red color line. If being green and budget friendly you'd be surprised how flexible vineager is in cleaning.
believe it or not there is a natural stain remover and it is called borax 20 muleteam.try that with vinegar.yes there is a specific vinegar as well make sure its applecider vinegar.make a paste out of the mix and put it on the spot.
Hi Amanda,
April M hit it right on. I too am a customer and a business builder for them. It's a great company and even greater products. Most people have never heard of our company but they are just awesome. We were Green before people knew what green was other than a color!
If you need a side income or just a new career, let me know. Go to www.greenteamdream.com.
Non toxic, no chemicals, have every product you use everday from make-up, toothpaste, cleaning aids, first aid, weight loss, vitamins and supplements that are patented, bath and body, you name it. Plus they are all concentrated, so they last much longer than other brands. You don't buy any of our water! Been around for 24 years. I love it! You just switch stores, and it's delivered to your home from the factory, no middleman.
Good luck
