Nausea During Early Pregnancy

I am about 7 1/2 weeks pregnant with my second child and have been feeling very nauseous for about 2 weeks now, something that I know is a good sign. I woke up this morning with much less nausea and am worried it means something is wrong. I have had 2 miscarriages in the past 8 months so I am on extra high alert to anything that might not be going well. Has anyone had experience with this? Is it normal to experience nausea for a while and then have a day when everyting feels better? I have had 2 successful ultrasounds and I know things are progressing well, but I just can't help but feel really anxious. Any feedback wouldbe so helpful. Thank you!

What can I do next?

This not advise about your nausea, but about your anxiety with your subsequent pregnancy after your miscarriages. My advice is to contact Sharing Parents - this is an organization that helps parents who have lost children from conception to a year old. They have a special group that deals with those who are going through their next pregnancy. This organization help me after I had a miscarriage 6 years ago and then through my subsequent pregnancy. They help me gain some peace of mind.

HI!!

Oh my goodness I just went through the same thing. Not only did i wake up and periodically feel like I was on top of the world again but I also spotted and freaked out the first time. I went and had and ultrasound and all was totally fine. The next thing i knew a day later i was feeling nausea again...that went back and forth for weeks. Last week, my boobs weren't as sore and tendar, no aversions to smell, I actually could stand the thought of chicken and then i had a Red spot this time...totally freaked out again I had an ultrasound and baby had grown a lot in a week and a half. I am now at 3 months/12 weeks and feel ok. Each day is another story and even i have days where i wake up and feel wonderful until about 4 or 5 then bam i feel really sick again. Hang in there I hear this is totally normal. I am so glad to hear someone else feels the same as I do.

Have a great weekend.

Here comes some advise you can actually use.
Before bed take a Unisom (sleep aid)& Vitamin B6. I took this in a regular dose, however a friend of mine took 1/2 a Unisome & 1/4 of a B6 & it helped her just as well.
A Kaiser doctor gave me this remedy. Both mine & my friends pregnancies, births and babies were normal and healthy.
(Side note: I have read that "Morning sickness" does not occur in 3rd world countries. Due to this some suspect that it may be due to stress and anxioty. )

Hi, I would feel nauseous in the morning but only when I had the prenatal vitamins without enough food. I changed to taking them after lunch and it was a world of difference. It all depends on what you are doing each day. Try to make a routine for yourself to calm your nerves about the what ifs...and then you'll know if something in particular is the culprit. Also, relax as much as possible-your stress level is already too high. Remember miscarriages are not your fault, and something you can't control. good luck.

I had a miscarriage, oh, three years ago now. I then got pregnant again right away. I understand exactly what you mean about being on high alert. I experienced the same exact thing. I would be really nauseous and then wake up one morning feeling fine. I remember crying my whole drive to work because I was sure I was going to lose that pregnancy too. Then the nausea would come back the next day or so and I'd be happy again. That's how my whole frist trimester went with my son, who has just turned two. Try not to get too stressed, although I totally understand how impossible that really is.

Absolutely! I had severe hyperemesis ( really bad 24hr morning sickness). I remember having good days and bad. I also remember my doctor telling me it peaks around 7-8 and begins to drop off. So maybe your lucky and it's getting better, so you can enjoy your pregnancy! S.

I am also 71/2 weeks prego too. I've been having the same experience. I am so glad you asked this question because I'll be reading all your replys. This is my forth pregnancy and each one has been different and I could'nt remember experienceing this. Last week on Thursday I woke up and felt great after feeling ill most of the day for the prevous week. I was really worried like you if this was a sign. Then it came back the next day and I've been sick all day everyday ( not throwing up just ill) until yesturday which was Thursday again and fortunately I had an ultra sound in the morning and got to see the heart beating. So now I know that even if Iam not feeling sick everything should be okay. I am waiting to see how I feel today. It's weird how awful it is feeling sick yet so comforting and reasuring. I have had a miscarrage too and being older this time(38) I am just a bit worried. I don't know if it's the same for you but on the days I feel less sick I am also less tired. So what do we do ? We hug our other children and trust that if it's meant to be it will be. Hugs and best wishes to you my fellow prego friend, R.. Oh by the way my due date is about the 26th of October.

Hi M. 1, I have experienced that with all my 4 kids but only on my first quarter. I tried minced ginger when i wake up in the morning. Just 1teaspoon, you dont have to eat or grind it with your teeth because the smell is strong but if you just swallow it and drink water immediately. This would make your stomach acid settle. remember to mince it or cut it in very small pieces so that you will not get choke, Good Luck.

I had the same experience with my second pregnancy. Where with my first pregnancy, I was sick pretty much continuously for 4 months, with my second pregnancy, I felt a sick for the first 2 months, and then... suddenly I felt great! My second baby was born bigger and healthier than her older sister, so who knows why I was not as sick. In any case I think you are just experiencing a little good luck and getting a free pass on the morning sickness! Enjoy it! =) Congrats on your baby-to-be.

When I was pregnant, red raspberry cured my morning sickness. I took 2 pills every night (when I was less likely to throw them up.) After a few days I noticed a marked change and never had nausea again. It also makes a yummy tea!
I can also recommend acupuncturists that specialize in fertility if you're concerned about another miscarriage. They can help you stay balanced on many levels. Good Luck!

It is perfectly natural to have days when you are more or less nauseated than others. Especially as your pregnancy progresses, and your body adjusts to the new circumstances. Please do not worry, it can actually make things go awry. If you are still concerned in a couple of days, please make an appointment with your provider. It is better to put your mind at ease than to fret.

Yes, it is normal to have that happen. I was like that
with all 3 of my pregnancys. My first one I was sick for
4 months. With my other two, I was really sick some days,
and not so bad on other days. I hope everything turns out
just wonderful for you. Good Luck.

If you feel anxious, call your doctor but the same thing happened to me. I felt nauseated from morning until night from week 2-10 (I even woke up in the middle of the night spinning) then one day, I woke up and felt great-no nausea, nothing. This is my first pregnancy so I called my doctor and they made appt to hear the heart rate again. Everything was fine and I'm now at 27 weeks. I hope this helps.

I did not have any nausea with my first at ALL. Then with my second I had it really bad for about 8 weeks, then off and on for another 4+ weeks. Some days I felt fantastic and others I felt like I couldn't get off the couch. Try and stay positive. I know it's hard when you have had a miscarriage. I had one before our second [3 weeks old now] was born and I worried, like you with the pregnancy. I had to put my mind to rest. It's totally normal to feel anxious or be watching for any sign really closely. Wishing you the best.

I had the exact same thing happen with my 2nd pregnancy, in fact that ws my clue to take a test. I had no nausea with the 1st. I went onto 7 year old cheddar and choco milk, and ginger. What I found is that somedays you get more protein to sit in your tummy thru the night and it makes you less ill in the am. I freaked out because I had a miscarriage 3 months prior to my 2nd preg and spotted with a cervical polyp almost the whole 1st trimesters. When my morning sickness stopped, I thought the worst. It was actually a successful change in diet before bed. Sounds wierd but try eating protien before bed and try not to worry. It does no good. I also know thats way easier said than done.

well first thing is try not to "look" for what is gonna go wrong, you're just stressing yourself out and ya know that isn't good with any kind of pregnancy. Keep in contact with you Dr. and if you have the strong feeling that something isn't right, go there, don't sit around wondering and stressing. Try yoga, the breathing and relaxing techniques are really wonderful. It really and truely is a mind and body thing. If something is gonna happen stressing over if and whens isn't gonna make it better. I know this sounds a little harsh, but thats not at all what I'm trying to be, its just simple fact that you NEED to relax, even with the healthies pregnancy. I wish you well, and all the luck in the world {{hugs}}

Hi M.!

With my first child, I was sick the first trimester, like normal, then it tapered off.

With my second child, I hardly felt sick.....until the last month I was sick ALL the time to the point of vommiting and needing IV's.

My point is, I think every women and baby are different. Try not to worry yourself sick about it. Just listen to your body, and you will "know" if you are healthy or not inside.

I will pray for you today. I'm sorry for your fear of a miscarriage, that would be emotionally hard to get over in your case.

Hi,
I miscarried 3 times before I had my baby boy that is now 8 days old. I understand that worry that goes along with it. What I think ended up allowing me to carry to term was taking prometrium so you might want to have your progesterone levels checked. I felt pretty miserable throughout my pregnancy but I would have occasional good days where I did not feel bad. One thing I learned is that NO ONE has the same pregnancy experience. Try to relax as much as possible as stress is not good for the baby. Sea sickness wristbands really helped with the nausea. I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy. Try not to worry.

From what I know women can have morning sickness during the first three months of pregnancy. the miscarriages are caused by the placenta falling off the wall too soon or something like that. Sometimes it happens, I think this pregnancy will work out fine. Try not to stress too much. I hope this helps a bit. G.

I went through the same thing with my pregnancy. Some days were really bad. I couldn't even cook without being sick, let alone eating what I cooked. Some days I'd feel more sick than others, but I wouldn't be alarmed if you aren't sick and feeling well for one day. If you have had two great ultrasounds then I wouldn't worry. If you are in fact concerned, I'd make an appointment and go see your doctor, but in my opinion everything sounds normal.
Good Luck and CONGRATS!! :)
