Hello,

Take it from a mom that is also a preschool teacher, they do cost a lots of money. You want to look for accreditted centers that also have 2 to 3 stars in the step up to quality system that ohio has now mandated that prechools follow. I work for The Apple tree is located on UT's campus off of door st. I have also worked for The toledo hospital day care###-###-####, both great centers. I do not care for kindercare of discovery centers I have worked for kindercare in Slyv. and just never liked it that was 7 years ago. My advise is just check out as meny child care programs you can.

Hi there! I'm A., 28, mom to Hannah (5) and Lauren (1). I'm married to my best friend and we live in the 43614 area too! I strongly urge you to check out All Saints Nursery School on Heatherdowns. This school is awesome!! We are on a pretty tight budget and this school is very reasonable and the teachers are fabulous!! The have seperate classes for 3 year olds and 4 year olds. The 3's go on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 2 1/2 hours a day and the 4's go M-W-F for 2 1/2 hours. My daughter is currently in the 4 year old class, but I put her in the 3 year old class last year as well. We do not have a large family here in Toledo and my girls have no cousins or anyone their age to play with so I wanted to get her in school when she was three for the socialization. This school was amazing--it did so much for her--gave her some confidence, she made great new friends--and continued to help her with her kindergarten readiness. The teachers are very calm and patient and have taught there for many years. One teacher is also a nurse. Darlene Stokes is the administrator--call her--she can answer any questions you may have--###-###-####.

HTH!!

If you ever want to get together--send me an ____@____.com

Good luck!!

My 5 year old is in her second year of pre-school at Olivet Christian Nursury School and we really love it there! They're located in Sylvania right near Major Magic's. Children can start there 2 years before they start kindergarten. They're a play based school which is really important when children are young. They thrive at learning through play and from their peers. Olivet is a co-op school meaning that parents have to complete service hours to help keep the tuition low. Personally I love the service hours, most of them have me more involved in my daughter's education! If you'd lik emore information, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck in your decision! Just remember, you're giving her a huge advantage by just getting her into a regular social setting regardless of where you send her. If you choose a school you're not comfortable with, remember you can always change that!

There are a number of preschools/daycare in the 43614 area. I live there too. I am hoping to send my daughter to Stay and Play Preschool. There is also Concordia, and Trinity. I am not sure about those two but know people who have sent their children there and were quite happy with them.

As for readiness I don't think you have to worry about that. Preschool is strictly to get children ready for school. Some things children her age might now are their colors, letters, shapes, and starting to work on directions: up down, beside, next to, over, under, etc. Hope this helps!

Hugs and Love,
C.

I live in 43605 area. St. Thomas Aquinas has a separate preschool program they are registering for right now. I put my 3 year old in it this year, they have MWF 1/2 days for 3 year olds and the 4 year olds go 5 days a week, either 1/2 days (until 11am) or full days, plus they have an afterschool program for working parents. It's a wonderful preschool, and it's not as expensive as I thought. It's actually one of the cheapest in the area, even compared to ones that aren't catholic! Hope that helps!
