I need to find a good preschool for my son in the Lombard/Glen Ellyn area. I have read good reviews about The Growing Place and the Co-Op on Main street. Has anyone ever sent their kids there? And if so do they offer a 2 day a week class? What are the prices?

What can I do next?

We absolutely love The Growing Place in Lombard. It uses space at Community Presbyterian Church on Madison. It has been there for 33 years. There are three classrooms, (age as of Sept. 1) 2 year, 3 year & 4 year. I have two daughters there now. My oldest daughter is currently in the 4/5 classroom (pre K). An average day there covers reading, math (ex: greater than / less than), science (ex: making snow), art & play. They also have two class pets that they learn to care for (fish and gerbil). It runs from 9 to 12. They do not host open houses, as they get all their students through word of mouth. The director, Lisa Elder, is wonderful. The 4/5 classroom has 3 options (although Lisa is VERY flexible if you desire a unique schedule & the space allows).... MWF 9-12, T/TH 9-12, MWF 12:30 to 3. You can also do full day MWF if needed. For two days a week it is around $150 a month. Just remember when comparing price that this classroom is 3 full hours. Hope this helps!!!!! Phone is ###-###-####.

Hi A.,

My daughter attends St. James the Apostle preschool and we love it! They have a two-day a week class for three-year olds, a three day a week class for four-year olds and a pre-K class for kids who just miss the Kindergarten cut-off date. The two-day class is $1250 and the three-day class is $1750. The school number is ###-###-####. My older daughter is in first grade at St. James and also went through the preschool. We are extremely satisfied. Oh, the classes are from 8:30am-11:00am.

I send my kids to the Growing Place and we just love it (and so do they!). My 2nd grader went there for 3 years and right now we have one in the 2 year old room, one in the 3 year old room and one in the 4 year old room. You can go 2 days a week, depending on the age they have 9-12 am or 12:30-3pm. We go three days a week and I'm paying for 3 kids, so I'm not 100% sure on the price for 2 days, and it would also depend on morning or afternoon, but I'm guessing it's around 120-130/month?
I really can't say enough about the preschool. The teachers are great, the parents are great and the curriculum is great. My kids look forward to going and are angry on non-school days that they have to stay home.
I also want to add that the year before kindergarten I also send my kids to a montessori school so they can go all day to both schools, and if I was ever in a predicament where I could no longer do that and had to choose one school over the other I would hands down choose the Growing Place.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Never heard of those schools but LOVE Diamante Montessori located in Glen Ellyn off of Park BLVD and Hillside. My son is 3.5 and goes there. They take children ages 2-6 and help to support all learning styles and developmental abilities.
