I need a good (digital if possible) thermometer. The one I have from walgreens is very inaccurate and inconstant. It can go from 97 to 100 in the same minute. Any recommendation??

So What Happened?

I bought the Exergen Temporal Scanner Infrared Thermometer. It requires some practice but once you know how to use it it's very accurate. I was in a rush, so I bought it at walmart for $36, then I saw it at target for $32. Thank you so much for the advise.

if you have a costco membership I got this one ($29):

and I LOVE IT!!!!

just as an fyi you may want to ask the doctor how they prefer to take your child's temp (some doctor offices want anal, some axillary (armpit), others oral and other are okay with forehead).

We have the Exergen Temporal Scanner Infrared Thermometer. It's a little pricey as well, but we love it! We've had it for almost 5 years now.

I, too, love the Braun ear thermometer. I got it as a gift at a baby shower for my first child, now 6-years-old, and it has been wonderful all along for both kids. And still working great.

I have been through thermometer hell myself :)

My son had a febrile seizure when he was 15 months, so even though they mean the body is fighting intruders... fevers scare me! I bought the Braun (for the ear) & it works quite well (tip from a nurse- pull down a bit on the child's earlobe) when inserting it! My husband still can't do it as well, so it does take some practice.

We were recently on vacation in New England & he had a fever- I forgot my Braun & when I went to CVS it was $60+- I regretfully took the cheap route & bought a namebrand one that did not work well at all (same 97-100 as you), so I returned it the next day. Then I bought the temporal one (not expensive, but not the cheapest)... again it gave a huge range between readings within minutes. His fever was gone so I relaxed... it came back & I bought the under the arm one & it was better than the last 2 but still not as good as the Braun.

You do NOT need to spend $60- look around at different pharmacies & maybe $49. It is WELL worth the $$

We bought a Braun digital ear thermometer. So far it has been very accurate and easy to use. It usually takes only about 5-10 seconds to get a reading. When our sweetie's have been sick we have taken their temps while sleeping and it didn't wake them up. Found ours at Walgreens but I have seen them at Target as well. It was about 50 dollars but we thought it was worth it. Hope this helps. Good luck!
