I realize you've had a ton of great recommendations. I really love Allen Veterinary Hospital. Allen is just northeast of Plano. I'm not sure where Stoney Hollow Estates are as I've only been in Plano since March, but Allen Vet. Hospital is fantastic and IMHO worth a bit of a drive. It's an older building, but has the feeling of your home town vet. So many vets today want to charge for every little thing. Dr Overton and Coffman are thorough and won't offer a million add on services or use expensive medical tests that aren't necessary. I just took my two rescue beagles today to see Dr Coffman, one I just got last night the other I've had for a year. My older dog had all his vaccines, rabies, bordetella, & the other one I forget, a hearworm test and 6 months worth of heartworm preventative. My other dog got her rabies and 6 months heartworm. The total was $160 for both dogs.
The foster lady from the Lone Star Beagle Rescue has used Animal Medical Center of Plano on Spring Creek & Coit (by Panda Express). She said that the prices have gone up so much there that she's looking to change vets.
If you are transplanted from somewhere where mosquitoes aren't a major problem, you will want to get your dog on heartworm preventative treatment. I'm from San Diego, CA where it's rare to see mosquitoes due to the dry climate. I didn't know this, no one bothered to tell me, so for a year our dog wasn't "safe". At Allen Vet. Hospital, I was charged about $39 for 6 months of Heartgard. I guess that a lot of other vets in the Plano really mark this up. Yes, you can buy it from Petmeds.com or another place online, but the company that makes it will only guarantee it if it's from a vet. The company that makes Heartgard will pay for your heartworm treatment if your dog gets infected while on the pill. A kind of insurance. Personally I thought it was worth the extra $10 difference from the online price. Heartworm treatments - when the dog is infected - can cost anywhere from $400 and up.

Also, in case you are interested, there is a really neat coin operated dog wash in Plano. It's located at Spring Creek and Independence behind the Arthur Murray. It's totally self serve. You just buy the tokens or take quarters - they have changers. They have 2 sizes of tubs so that you don't have to bend down. The hoses work just like those self serve car washes where you dial to rinse, shampoo, conditioner, final rinse, blow dry. You don't have to bring anything, but you might want a towel for the face. They have grooming services too, but I've only used the self serve. As I said I'm kinda new to Plano too, so I just discovered this and thought you might like to know. It's called Bentley's Dog Wash & Spa

Plano also has a dog park located off of Spring Creek, just west of Custer. I haven't been yet, but hope to go soon.
Something to consider is feeding your dog the B.A.R.F. diet. Basically it means bones and raw foods which more closely resembles the dogs natural eating habits in the wild. Anyway, it is supposed to keep the dogs healthier and eliminate the need for all the vaccines and preventative measures. I've just started my dogs on this diet, mostly because my 4 year old dog is overweight. So far it's going really well. Anyway, food for thought : 0 )

Good luck to you and welcome to Plano!!
