M.M.
We have a Quinny Zapp which we LOVE! It's very lightweight, is the smallest fold up stroller of that variety on the market, comes with a tote bag, and can accomodate kids up to 50lbs.
LOVE IT!
We live in the city and walk quite a bit or are out all day, so my older son needs a stroller when he's tired or just doesn't want to walk. We do have a sit 'n stand among our "showroom" of strollers, but I need a regular stroller since he still naps. We have a side-by-side double, but don't take it on public transportation. We have a single combi for each of our boys, and my husband and I prefer to use 2 single strollers when we're together. I've always had issues with the combi, but it really suits our lifestyle well, considering that we're on the bus and train quite a bit: it weighs about 12lbs, folds compact, has a carrying strap, sun shade and the seat reclines. My son's now too tall for the combi (39"), especially when he falls asleep and his feet drag on the front wheels. I only started doing the research but can't seem to find one that has as many of the features as the combi or a high enough maximum weight (my son is 35lbs). Would love your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks!

MaClaren Volo, it doesnt recline but the back is "curved" enought that my almost 4 year old has and still can sleep in it well.
I'm so glad you asked because we have been looking for the same thing! The two that we have really liked so far are the Joovy Kooper and the Citi Mini. Both have really great sunshades, fold easily, are fairly light weight, and seem to accommodate an older child. Our son is almost 4, weighs about the same as your son, and is about 42" tall. He seemed to be fine in both of them. We have yet to purchase one (just haven't had the time), but I figure it's worth you taking a look! Good luck!
I just recently had the same dilemma except my daughter is older and we went to Disney and I didn't want he to tire out before the rest of us. I went with the maclearen quest. It's light weight but had all the amenities of a full strolled including being able to recline. it also has a sun canopy and large basketIt worked very well for us and I bought it on Craigslist saving us some money (there is a recall on some so make sure that if it is part of the recall they have the fix kit). I hope this helps
How about just one of those simple, very light weight umbrella strollers.
The MacClaren holds kids up to 50lbs. I did alot of research a couple years ago because we were taking a Disney trip during Spring break and wanted to have our own stroller that would hold my son (4 at the time and about 35lbs). But didn't want to spend big bucks. The MacClaren is very lightweight. I got the Volo, which doesn't recline. There was never a problem with him slumping over when sleeping as a previous post said it is like a sling. I was planning on selling mine at the school sale this fall, if you are interested in purchasing contact me privately. I have the stoller, rain cover and drink holder attatchment. I only used it for the week vacation and a couple of outings at the zoo. Its black & grey.
i like maclaren. it has a small basket and it reclines and goes to 55 lbs.
Maclaren! Best stroller ever for older kids. Get one on Craigslist.
