C.K.
I found the Layton Mom's Club online and went to my first activity yesterday. They are a really nice group of women and I joined immediatly. I think I googled Layton Mom's Club to find them. I don't see a website on the paperwork they gave me.
As far as preschools, I have been very disappointed. My son went to a very robust preschool last year in the 3 year old program at Episcopal School. Three days a week, introductory academics, music, french, art, PE all with teachers with 4 year degrees. I haven't found very much that will challenge him. There are 2 montessoris. One in Layton that is year round with a day care style schedule and very pricy and one in Ogden where he would have to wear a uniform which isn't too bad but I do feel he is a little young and very picky about his clothes. If we can afford it that is my only "private" option. I did enroll him in the county program and am planning on homeschooling to keep up his academics. I know he's only four but he does need structure because he's smart but very hyper which is why I felt the county program was better than none at all. After exploring all my local options and their cost, my best option is the county and homeschooling. I worked at the preschool he attended before and talked to my heads of school about all my options. With over 50 years of experience each, I valued their input.
I hear the Kindergarten through High Schools are great here but I have been very disappointed in the preschool offerings. If you find a gem, let me know. I would be very interested. There could be a great school out there that just doesn't advertise much.
