Having a slumber party for our daughter's 7th birthday and she wants to do a craft. I am NOT crafty, so I'm not sure what to do. It needs to be something easy to bring home (no delicate pieces) and not require many steps.

Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for the ideas! These are perfect. Now I just need to narrow down which one to do! I think I'll ask my daughter when she's home from school. I'm really leaning toward the decorated pillowcase idea because it ties nicely into the slumber party theme.

Beading is always fun... They have kits you can buy or buy the stuff separately. Also, at Michael's, they have those tubes of paint (they are contained enough so that it's not messy) and the kids could make personalized tees.. you can buy the tees at Michael's as well or maybe get them cheaper at Target.. you could buy a package of boys white tees..or oversized men's.. and it could be worn as pajamas..

have fun!

Decorate t-shirts with puff paint? They could dry overnight and be worn home the next day.

Here is one we did at my daughter's party. They loved making these. Very easy and fun! Just need time to dry.

Spin art

-salad spinner
-light weight white paper plates
-small bottles of paint, sparkly and bright colors work well.

Place paper plate in salad spinner, drizzle several different colors of paint on plate. (Don't use too much paint) Place lid on spinner and spin for about 10-20 seconds.

I like Queen of the Castle's idea. My daughters went to a slumber party recently where they decorated t-shirts with fabric paint. The t-shirts were bright orange (the mom said she got them on clearance somewhere - the kids thought the color was fantastic ;). My daughters love those darned neon orange shirts and want to wear them everywhere!

You could check out Oriental Trading company. They have tons of kits you can buy or look at what they have for ideas. One of the projects I did with my girls when they were around 7 was painting a denim bag. I bought denims bags from the crafts store, bought some craft paint and some puffy paint along with a pack of brushes of different sizes. I also found some stencils they had. It worked out great and they had fun doing it.

Wax paper, crayons and construction paper. Hot iron.

You can make sun catchers.
Shave the crayons.
put the peices between the wax paper.
Put a designed border with the contscutction paper.
Use the iron to melt the crayons.

Durable and enjoyable.

plain pillow cases (white or colored) plus fabric markers. Easy and no dry time. Painting shirts (if you are not crafty) might be more than what you are ready for. They take HOURS to dry. and with inexperienced kids I see it being VERY messy.

An easy and cheap one is tissue paper flowers in Mom's favorite colors or all colors. Check Internet for directions.
