S., I also live in the uptown area..what daycare does your child currently attend? I have a one year old daughter who goes to Fair Oaks on Walnut Hill I like the school but..it is a drive for me and she has been sick since I put her in...strep, pink eye and now an upper respiratory infection. If you find a place, let me know! I'm tired of having a sick child!!

S.,
If you have a lovong place you are doing great.
As a pediatric RN I can tell you that just about any daycare enviroment will have kids sick a lot. SO will mom's day outs, play groups etc... It is just part of childhood.
Most parents don't know their child is sick- they are fine in the AM and all of the sudden start vomiting, begin with a temp etc.... As long as the facility does the best they can to not allow kids who are already sick to enter, you are good.
The other thing to keep in mind is some kids are more sussceptable to certain thing- some kids get ear infections all the time whiloe others never do- or vomiting or Strep...
Obviously you are going to do what you feel is best for your child, but if she is safe, loved and happy you have found a good place!

When we were looking we loved Oak Lawn United Methodist CHurch Child Development Program though they had a really long waiting list. It would be worth a try! Could you tell me the name where your child is now? We live in the Uptown area and have our baby on a couple of waiting lists and would love your input also. Thanks!

I have a 6 mo old son that is enrolled at Children's Choice Medical City Dallas. I spoke with our pediatrician because he was getting sick so much, and he told me it was the weather, we hadn't had a freeze to get rid of the bugs and viruses. There is currently a 6 month waiting list for our daycare. Any good ones will have a long wait list, perhaps you should talk to your pediatrician? Michael had RSV, rotavirus, hand/foot/mouth all in the course of a month. He now has the daycare ick (runny nose all the time!)

S., I live in the Uptown/Oaklawn area of Dallas, too. I am expecting my first child in June and we have lived in Dallas less than a year. I have been looking for daycare and I have found it very challenging. We interviewed one place we were very impressed with but, they have a waiting list into 2007. Would you feel comfortable letting me know the place you are trying to get away from, so that I can scratch them off my list? Also, any recommendations you have for me would be greatly appreciated as well. It seems there are not a lot of daycare centers in our area, and the "good" ones have waiting lists of 6 months or more. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. The place we liked is located in the Oaklawn United Methodist Church at Oaklawn and Cedar Springs. I believe it is called Oaklawn Child Development Center. Thanks, and I hope to hear from you! C.
