My 6 YO DD is overweight (which we are dealing with by increased activity and lots of fruits and veggies). I'm having trouble finding jeans to fit her that don't slide off her tummy. Does anyone know where I can find elastic waist jeans for her?

What can I do next?

My daughter tends to wear her jeans under her belly. There is a large selection of elastic waist comfort jeans at Lands End. Also Hanna Andersson catalog has girly ones often. Locally we just found the CUTEST pair of jean capris (with glitter) and also jean shorts with a elastic athletic waist (no zipper) at Justice For Girls.

Sears sells a little girls' Levi jean that has adjustable elastic strip on the inside of the waistband. I have purchased them for my girls(one thin and one plump), and we LOVE them. I just bought a new pair this past weekend for my 4 year old who outgrew her old ones. They are located in the Girls 4-6 section. Good luck!

The Gap also sells pants with adjustable waist bands.

I'm not sure about elastic waist but JC Penney has plus sizes for little girls that are proportionate. Good luck!

My son, when he was between three and six year old he wore slims. Then he had several years where he didn't grow in two directions at the same time. We would buy him jeans for the length because he grew upward. A couple of months later we had to buy him husky jeans because he grew outward. This went on until he became a teenager. Needless to say, today he is 6'3", built very muscular and has worn the same size and length for 18 years. The only place that I could find clothes that were slims and/or husky was Sears. I think they still carry them. I hope that they do for your daughters sake, because soon she will become very concerned about her weight and schoolmates have a tendency to let them know. Good Luck.

Hi there. I may have one suggestion. I am the proud step-mother of a Down Syndrome daughter. Typically down syndrome kids are very short and over weight so ours has spent most of her life in Elastic Waist pants and jeans. Sears used to carry plenty of toddler and kids clothes with these waists and once she grew out of those we used Sweats and also petite womens dept. clothes. Almost all of her pants had to be hemmed b/c they were still too long so we got real good at hemming real fast.

Hope this may help, but I know you'll get lots of great advice, I always do here!

J.C. Penney's has them. I have a niece with the same problem and that is where we get hers. They have a variety of colors too.

try Lands End.com they have larger girl sizes and a chart that will help you with the measurements. My daughter is not so much overweight as she is big for her age and it has been really hard to find any thing that fits. Sometimes Gap has good sizes. Good Luck

Try Old Navy jeans or Kohl's for Levi's. Both of those brands have the adjustable waist band. I know they have them for boys so they may have them for girls also. They have worked great for my son. The waist band is the same but internally there is an elastic strip inside you can pull and button to the right size of their waist. Hope this helps.

Also try Target for the adjustable pants. In my experience, though, you can't beat Sears for comfortable plus sized clothing for girls. They have great sales too!
