She gets bit mostly during the day. It is winter so we don't go outside too much and if we did I thought bugs wouldn't be around anyhow. They are like little welts. I've checked for bed bugs and fleas and I can't seem to find anything. I've stripped the whole house, washed cleaned, sprayed and bombed the house with bug bombing solution. I vacuum twice daily. Shampoo carpets. I cannot think of what it is but it has to stop! Nobody else gets bit, not even once. We sleep together as well and she may get a bite at night every so often but hardly ever. I just want it to stop it's driving me crazy and I know she can't be comfortable with all the itching. I've done research and I just can't seem to find anything helpful. Please any suggestions would be appreciated

What can I do next?

How frustrating. A medical professional needs to take a look at those welts and see if they are, in fact, bites. There are so many skin conditions and it's impossible to say without looking at them. I also think all the chemicals you are using (shampoo, bug bombs) could be making things worse. If you had fleas in the house, for example, everyone would be getting bitten. It's odd that she's the only one and I think that merits a visit with the pediatrician and perhaps a dermatologist.

If she's itchy and has welts, I would think it would be an allergic reaction, contact dermatitis or a reaction of sorts she's having.

One of my kids has very sensitive skin and allergies. If I cleaned the house with harsh cleaners, etc. he would have a reaction.

I'd take her in and find out what it is for sure.

Those really don't sound like bug bites. They sound more like hives. Definitely call your pediatrician. She's most likely having an allergic reaction to something. If you've been quite diligent about cleaning everything, there's a good possibility that she is allergic to one of the products you've been using. Can you think of anything you just began using a month or so ago?

Sounds like she could be having some type of allergic reaction to something. I would talk to her pedi and then possibly a dermatologist or allergist.

Take her to a dermatologist. You can't treat the problem until you've properly identified the cause.

Maybe it's an allergic reaction to something?
Or chicken pox or measles or hand/foot/mouth?
Take her to the pediatrician and have her checked out.
A rash (yeah, sometimes rashes look like bug bites) like that could be any number of things.

just because you bug bombed the house does not mean that you have completely erradicated the bug problem if it is fleas, they have to be taken care of onthe animl thats bringing them in, (which could be a mouse that you don't even know about) and then you have to break the life cycle by bombing multiple times.

Have been there, so I know what you are going through. For the last 14-years, I have been an advocate for toxin free zones; homes and environment because my son went through a similar problem. As others have stated, she could be allergic to something you are using. I would suggest to use 'Green' cleaning products and change your laundry detergent. Most laundry detergents in the marketplace have toxins like dioxane in them. My oldest son has eczema because I used Tide; no other family member affected. My doctor told me to change my detergent and wash his clothes in Borateem. When I found a green company, I switched cleaning products as well.

Also could be her hands get in residue of the cleaners you use and by touching her face, arms, etc, she is getting chemicals on herself.

There is a site 'Environmental Working Group' where you can see what toxins are in your cleaning products, personal care products etc. www.ewg.org Use the site to check even green products sold in the marketplace, because not all are completely green.

Good luck with your little one.

Sounds like an allergy of some sort.

I'd take her to a dermatologist and an allergist to figure out what it is.

Welcome to mamapedia!!

She might be allergic to something and what you see is an allergic reaction instead of a bite.

Get her tested for allergies.

Good luck

My mother in law took vinegar supplements and ate a high vinegar diet before she went to Alaska. She didn't get one bug bite her whole trip. Bugs eat who taste good. Maybe you can spritz her with vinegar or skin so soft or something.

Consider calling a carpet cleaning service that also cleans duct work (everything coming from your furnace, vents, etc). It's amazing what builds up in ducts and vents.

Also, contact an exterminator who can thoroughly and professionally determine if there are fleas or invisible things that your daughter might be reacting to. Most homeowners can't detect the bugs that a pro can.

These "bites" may not be bites at all - they could be an allergic reaction to nearly anything. Start keeping track of where she plays, where she is during the day when the welts appear, and most importantly, what she eats and drinks. Be specific.

Your vacuuming and shampooing the carpets could be a factor - find out if your vacuum has a filter that traps even the tiniest pollutants, and find out what is in the carpet shampoo.

A dust mite allergy is a real thing, but since she rarely gets bites at night, and dust mites love bedding, that doesn't sound plausible. Try switching out all cleaners and cleansers to unscented products (and don't get fragrance-free; they're not unscented) that are all natural and safe for sensitive skin. Try all cotton clothing.

And definitely get her to a dermatologist and an allergist for testing and evaluation.

I get little welt marks when exposed to fragrances in chapstick, shampoo, candles, air fresheners and carpet cleaners. I also get headaches and get stuffy and sneeze and cough. Tgise are signs to watch for.
