Need Help with Bleach Stain

I have a black cotton shirt that I love. A few months back I leaned into a sink that had been recently cleaned with bleach. I ended up with a few pea sized spots that turned an orange color. Recently I had wanted to wear the shirt out, since it is my favorite. I colored in the spots with a black marker and it was like magic. But I had to wash the shirt and now the spots are visible again.

My question is, could I just get some Rit dye and dye the whole shirt in black. Would that help? Or is there fabric pens that might help with just the spots?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Try a black Sharpie or white board marker. When my kid got that on her clothes, nothing would remove it.

Try Dylon from Walmart. It is located in the craft area with the tie dye stuff. It's about $2 and works really well. It is a powder form and you can use as much as you need. I use it to tie dye shirts and the black is awesome, better than rit. You can put some powder in a old dish with some drops of water until it dissenigrates (Sp?) and cover the spots. Let it set for a few hours then rinse. Hope this helps...Good luck and God Bless.

I would use the Rit dye the whole shirt. Make sure to soak it in salt/vinegar afterward to set the color. That should do the trick...frankly, if there was a black Koolaid I'd tell you to use that...we've used both to dye clothes for costumes.

you could do either! the rit should do it, but there are also fabric markers you could try. they are in the same aisle together at the craft stores.

Sorry to tell you this but the shirt is ruined. My husband has done this and wanted to dye it but it just won't hold dye since bleach has gotten to it. sorry you ruined it.

Spending money on any kind of dyes would be a waste. Once something is bleached, it chemically alters the fabric, making it unable to hold any dyes. Using a Sharpie marker is your only hope! If it washes out, color it in again. I have tried everything else, and this is the only thing that works (and luckily the cheapest). Be thankful it was a black shirt! They don't make a Sharpie in the color of the last shirt I ruined!

There are liquid embrodery pens but am not sure if they have the color black or not if they do it will work an won't wash out.
