I am 42 was recently pregnant for the first time and lost my baby at 9 weeks, still dont know why. I had a D and C and no problems after. Then I started having cramps and finally at 8 weeks and still no period i went to be examined and my doctor found an infection!! It became more painful and I had to take anitbiotic. I was quite angry and frustrated.
So now I am searching for another OB who specializes in high risk. I have a clotting issue as well. I dont want one of those offices where you have to wait an hour to be seen and then feel rushed. Are there any competent compassionate ob's who can take new patients??? thank you
I can't tell you who to go to, but I can suggest that you stay away from Dr. Samantha Feder. She was an alarmist who caused me much angst and fear when none was needed.

I'm pretty sure my OB practice has some high risk doctors-###-###-####. It's in NYU and I was very very happy with them. (I didn't use them for high-risk but I met almost all of the drs in the practice and they were all great).

I'm very sorry about your miscarriage. I will say a prayer that a healthy pregnancy is your blessing soon. I have a wonderful ob/gyn that I cannot say enough good things about. I started with him as a teenager and still swear by him 18 years later! He is kind, thorough, and an excellent, experienced ob/gyn. If you call him, you will not regret it. The girls in the office are super friendly, he takes his time, and he is associated with Lenox Hill - one of the top hospitals in the state and country. His name is Dr. Jeffrey Mazlin. hi-based on your age(already high risk) and miscarriage i would run to see reproductive endocrinologist. not high risk ob. you will see one eventually. i am in similar situation. th ey will perform all kinds of testing. its the way to go, i can assure you. good luck
by the way, one of docs listed by one of the responders is my ob/gyn as well and he is really wonderful(delivered my 1st baby) but he is not a high risk specialist.
Loved Isabel Blumberg and Sheri Brasner Practice on 90th and Park. They are not techinically high risk but are highly involved.... They work with high risk docs at Mt. Sinai - Eddleman and Stone. LOVED them all........... Mother of 15 month old twin girls at 43!

In order to get pregnant I used Dr. Sami David who specializes in fertility issues--that includes miscarriages. He could help establish why you miscarry and help you keep this pregnancy. I then switched to Dr Rebarber and Dr. Charles somethingoranother, who is no longer in partnership with Dr. Rebarber. I actually miscarried my first pregnancy and then the 2nd pregnancy was a breeze, so one doesn't indicate that the 2nd will be a problem. I also had a clotting issue--not enough clotting which is different from the rest of the world. Good luck!!
