I was 43 and went to a place at6 428 E. 72nd/1st phone number is ###-###-####. I can't recall his name but he does all the cvs tests. Highly recommended. Just ask for the doctors name. good luck
I'm 40, will be 41 when I deliver. I think I want to do the CVS (chronic villus sampling) test but hear that the experience and expertise of the doctor make a big difference in miscarriage rates. Does anyone know of a good ob/gyn who does CVS in NYC? Thanks in advance.
Hello everyone--just wanted to let you know that I had the cvs yesterday at Mt. Sinai. It was more painful than I'd anticipated but otherwise fine. Now I'm just waiting for the results... Thanks again for all your help!

Dr. Joanne Stone at Mount Sinai literally wrote the book on this, including Pregnancy for Dummies. She also has a male colleague who is a big expert on CVS and amnio, but I have forgotten his name. I will look it up if you need me to. Dr. Stone's number is ###-###-####.
Please be very calm about it. CVS is a very simple procedure. The rates of miscarriage due to it are MUCH lower than previously reported because of the use and improvements in imaging technology so it is really very safe.
On another note let me tell you, I had my daughter at 44 (two years ago) and had the procedure done with Dr. Stone and it was easy and find. Hope it goes as well for you. Best wishes. LC
NO ONE else go to Dr. Joanne Stone at Mt. Sinai. She is a careless, money hungry doctor who lies and takes unnecessary risks. I'd have another perfectly healthy baby if it wasn't for her. I got completely different advice from every other doctor I asked after the fact. DO NOT go to Dr. Joanne Stone at Mt. Sinai.
You've had your baby by now but I agree, Dr. Joanne Stone at Mt Sinai is one of the most highly regarded doctors and experts in CVS. The risk of miscarriage is lower now in general than when I had my CVS done four years ago (according to new research) - I was toldby another mom that it's now around 1/1000 in her case but check with Mt Sinai. Nationally it's anywhere from 1/200 - 1/400, it depends on the doctor and where it's done.
In my case the procedure was a bit painful, like strong cramping, but the pain lasted only a couple of minutes. Try to relax, I was stressed out and this doesn't help.
Try researching the main Drs. at Carnegie Hill Imaging for Women, affiliated with Mt. Sinai Hospital. Although i didnt end up with cvs they were highly recommended by OB and were great for my 12week ultrasound. *Cvs is very specific procedure so its something you have to make sure you're comfortable with the doctors beyond anyone's reccomendation. *my disclaimer
I used Dr. Kofinas when I had my CVS done (2 years ago). I have high risk pregnancies. If my husband and I decided to have another child, I would use them again in a heartbeat. The office is located in Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. The practice is two brothers - one helps get you pregnant and the other helps you stay pregnant! The website is http://www.kofinasfertility.com
He has been ranked one of the best doctors in The New York Best Doctor issue for at least 15 years in a row.
Good luck.
there is a very good person at Mt. Sinai Hospital...I am not sure I still have the name.
I did CVS twice, first when I was 38 (after several miscarriages) and then when I was 41. Had the most amazing doctor!! Her name is Joanne Stone, MD and she's at the Mt. Sinai Dept of Maternal and Fetal Medicine. 5 East 98th Street, between 5th and Madison. She is incredibly competent and experienced. I also found getting the results in the early stages gave me a lot more comfort than waiting halfway to do an amnio.
My last child is 9yrs old, but my doctor's name is
Dr. Shaw & Dr. Mazlin in manhattan. They delivered both my kids, and I've recommended them to at least 4 other ladies who currently see him.
I don't know if the do CVS, but you can look them up & call them. They are in the vicinity of the 60's or 70's
between lexington & park.
I trust them whole heartdly
Mrs.J.Medina
