Okay I should know how to take care of this by now. We just found out we are having our fourth child. It was a big shock ofcourse because we were done. Anyway I have had morning sickness it seems like all day long with a few breaks here and there. With my other 3 the crackers would work and it was either in the morning or at night. If I lay down it seems to help but if I get up and start moving around I get sicker than a dog. I can't just lay around all day and do nothing. My husband helps me out alot, but he isn't here all the time. My first appointment isn't till August the 9th. So I hope some of you may have some ideas. Thanks

What can I do next?

Nilla wafers!!!!! Eat a couple before you get up. I sucked on them in the am because i didn't want anything! A 90yr old woman gave me that advice, i thought she was crazy! I got desperate though and it did work!

You may want to go to the pharmacy and get an antiemetic...I can not remember the name but ask the pharmacist to help with the over the counter brand. It is safe for pregnancy and works well. Hope this helps! Also try bubble gum. I remember having "all day" sickness and the lemonade gum helped! Just a suggestion hope it helps.

I've read all of the suggestions... and they're all great, but... NONE of that worked for me! I, unfortunately, got no relief until about 7 months along (when I think I had just gotten so used to it, I didn't notice it so much). Dr. prescribed stuff...I tried home remedies... just none of it worked. So, my point is, hopefully, one of the suggestions will work for you, but if you find that nothing helps... you're not the only one!

Congrats!! I was extremely sick with both of my daughters' pregnancies until 5-6 months, so I feel for you, especially with three little ones! I would try to stay hydrated, as others have said, but I felt that water was really harsh on my stomach for some reason, especially early in the morning. I did better with juice or milk. I always had snacks with me, especially pretzels or goldfish crackers, and would make myself eat a little if I was feeling sick (even though it was the last thing I wanted to do). Things with carbs in general made me feel better, like french fries, potatoes, bread. Applesauce was another good choice for me. Keeping my blood sugar up definitely helped. Smells would really make me sick, especially chicken, so my husband did a lot of the cooking for a while, and I had this little sachet with cinnamon and cloves in it that I would hold to my nose if a smell was making me sick. I tried the Seabands that others have mentioned, but they didn't really help me. With my second pregnancy, my doctor prescribed Zofran, a drug that was created to help chemo patients with nausea. It was a blessing, but it is a very expensive medicine, so my insurance company was very stingy with how much they would allow me...they were more precious than gold to me! Zofran did not make me sleepy like the Finnegran (sp?) that I had taken occasionally with my first pregnancy, something that I know is crucial for you with little ones in the house. You could call your doctor and tell them how sick you are, and I'm sure they would call a prescription in for you. There is a tablet kind, and a sublingual kind (dissolves under your tongue). I had to use the sublingual kind because otherwise I would just vomit up the tablet before it had time to work. Finally, try to get out of the house as much as possible. I know that it is an overwhelming thought to get yourself and the kids ready when you are feeling so sick, but I promise you that you will feel better. There's something about laying around the house thinking about how nauseaous you are that makes it worse. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.

G.,

The suckers mentioned are called "pregger pops" found at Motherhood stores and probably other specialty stores. What worked for me as well was pickled G.. I know it sounds gross, but something about it helped me a lot. Good luck and God's blessings.

Hi G.~
Sorry to hear about the heinous morning sickness you are having. This happened with my last pregnancy...I was so sick (and it was before my 1st visit also) .....I just knew there was something wrong with me I was going to make him run some tests or something. Needless to say, we wound up with an early U/S .... and found the reason why..there was 2 little ones in there, thus, increasing the sickness. :)
Not trying to scare ya, but they were extra good to get me some medicine before my first visit also. Just call them and let them know how sick you are. They SHOULD go out of their way to try and make this a bit easier on you.
Best Wishes! And keep us posted! ;)
Smiles,
T.

G. is a natural home remedy. Start out with G. ale. If that is not strong enough try eating G. snap cookies. If that doesn't work move on and try straight G. root. Hope this works for you as well as it did for me.

Peppermint!!I was always sick with my son. I had to keep a bottle of peppermint essential oil with me at all times. You can get it at any health food store or online. I found the candies would make me feel just as sick b/c of the sugar. I would just put a small drop of the oil on my wrist.Good luck

Congrats on Baby #4! I have two children (boy, two, and girl, 6 months). I felt sick all day long with both of them, but was never able to get sick and feel better! Ha ha! ;)

One thing my cousin told me to do worked pretty well with my son ... I bought some of those motion sickness armbands (sold in most pharmacies, general stores, etc.) that people use for flying or on cruises.

They have little balls that put pressure on a certain part of your wrist. My doc said they were fine to use, and also recommended using them to see if they'd help with the nausea.

Best of luck to you!

Hey G.,
I know the word around is "no caffeine"!! But I got sick for 4.5 months straight...every single day,all day long. It all changed when I drank me a coke. I don't know how this helped me but it did. I just drank a coke if I felt like I was going to get sick. I'd alawys say "a coke a day keeps the morning sickness away". Don't get me wrong drink tons and tons of water!! Just a suggestion.

I used the motion sickness bands as well. They did seem to help some, but I spent months feeling slightly queasy. It seemed to help if I stayed well hydrated so I drank gallons of water. That also seemed to help with the heartburn which tormented me the entire time. Congrates on this little surprise and best of luck.

Have you tried pregnancy pops? I have seen them at Motherhood Maternity & maybe Babies R Us. I didn't know about them when I was pregnant, but I heard they help. Gingerale helped me some, and my friend swore by the dried G. you can get at health food stores. Another friend used peppermint drops under her tongue, also from the health food store, I think. (She tried peppermint candy, but the sugar actually worsened her nausea.) Good luck!

I used sour suckers made specially for morning sickness. My son is 4 now, so to be honest, I can't really remember the name of them. I got my first box as a gift..the box had a web site on it and I continued to buy more from this web site. They worked wonderfully! I also ate sweet tarts ALL the time. Something about sour stuff with me. I don't have any idea what it was, but it helped!! Try to google the suckers for morning sickness..see if you can come up with anything:D

Hi G.,

I had horrible morning sickness (all day sickness) when I was pregnant. It was so bad, I could not eat anything. My doctor finally put me on Zophran (probably spelt wrong, sorry). This is also something patients take when going through kemo therapy. This really worked for me and I was able to eat again. It's not harmful for the baby and will help stop the morning sickness. It is a little tablet that dissolves in your mouth.
I hope you start to feel better soon :-)

I worked the entire time I was pregnant and it required I be on my feet all the time, climbing up and down ladders, etc.

I had some pretty uncomfortable days (mine was not just morning sickness), so I started keeping a bag of skittles on me and I'd suck on them one at a time. It worked really well. I also ate lighter meals more frequently.

My OB gave me a prescription for Zofran ODT (orally dissolving tablets) and they worked so quickly I can't even describe it! Just pop one on your tongue and in a couple seconds it's dissolved and you're not nauseated anymore. I recommend them to every mom-to-be I know!

I had morning sickness with my son and the only thing that helped it was sucking on the hard peppermint candies. Just thought I would share. Good luck and congrats!
